Um if she is under investigation (or whatever you call it at this stage) for a DWI, why the H is she at the DMV. PLEASE tell me she isnt renewing her license or allowing her to register a car!
I just heard on E- it was for a hit and run (she hit a parked car)- I didn't hear she got a DWI
and they said she has a Lousianna Lic- I don't understand why that wouldn't be valid in CA??????
but she needs to put pants on - she's lucky that isn't a crime
California requires that you get a CA license within 5 days of becoming a resident. My mom was devestated to give up her NY license when my dad got stationed there. She had even kept it when we lived in England.

I *believe* CA law is something like if your primary residence is CA, you need a CA license ... I think that's what I heard in reference to this issue.

I know she has issues- but this hardly seems like a crime to me

The crime was the hit and run.
The judge is making her get the license in accordance with the laws of the state of California.
Most states require you to get a license in their state after X amount of days living there.
Some states have driving laws specific to them and you have to be aware of them.
It's common sense really and she was given ample time to work it out.
