how long did you stay in your starter home??
Just curious to see how many years everyone stayed in their starter home before they upgraded??? thanks!!!

well DH moved into my townhouse with me when we got engaged late 2001, we bought our house(that we plan to live in for a LONG time) in early 2004.

we have been in here 2 1/2 years and we are looking to upgrade!!! This house is great and everything is brand new becuase we completely renovated it when we moved in, but I want something bigger for when we have kids! I am also looking for a neighborhood. Where we are now, there are not many kids, and it is a rather busy road.

We are here 2 years.
We bought something between a starter and a 'final' home (in case the market tanked and we couldn't sell)
I would imagine that we would start the conversations about upgrading in another 3 years or so - depending on the market and how big our family gets.

Still in it after more than 11 years and not going to move anytime soon.
I would rather live here, be able to afford the mortgage and bills then be over our heads to just "move up".

we bought a co-op as our starter home with expectations to stay about 5 years. it's been just over 2 and we are trying to sell; timing with buying my grandparents house is the only reason - otherwise we would have stayed another 2 years or so before putting it on the market.

It will be 7 years next month. We has said 5 year tops. Lots of things change. We hope to move in the next year or two.

We have been here almost 4 years. We thought we'd sell after 2, but there were some projects to make the house more valuable that took longer than we planned. Now we're waiting a bit to see how the market shakes out.

I moved into DH's house.
He was there a total of 4 1/2 years.
The house we bought together is large enough and perfect for us to raise our family. We are here indefinitely.
