Ok, I could not believe the news!
The woman who left her baby in a hot car for 7 hours, resulting in the baby's death, is not being charged with anything!!! I could not believe it!
Meanwhile, a police officer left his dog in the car (different state) is being charged with animal cruelty...which I agree IS animal cruelty...
The woman, an educator, said she "forgot" about her toddler in the back seat!
Can someone explain this to me? Am I missing something?

Re: Ok, I could not believe the news!
Police: Mother Of Dead Toddler Was Warned About Leaving Child Sep 06 2007 12:03PM BATAVIA, Ohio (AP) - A woman whose 2-year-old daughter died in an overheated car last month had left the girl unattended before and had been warned about the danger that created, according to a police report.
Brenda Nesselroad-Slaby had been told by a former administrator at her 5-year-old daughter's preschool that the younger sister shouldn't be left in the car by herself, the Miami Township police report said. A parent had complained about seeing the toddler left in a car during the winter. The former administrator told police that the event prompted the school to warn parents in its newsletter that no child should be left in a car unattended. The Clermont County prosecutor said Tuesday that no charges would be filed against Nesselroad-Slaby, 40, in the Aug. 23 death of her daughter, Cecilia. The woman forgot she left the toddler strapped in a car seat when she went to work as an assistant principal at Glen Este Middle School, about 20 miles east of Cincinnati, authorities said. The child's body was discovered more than seven hours later, after outside temperatures reached nearly 100 degrees. Nesselroad-Slaby lives in Hamilton County, where the Department of Job and Family Services is investigating to determine whether Cecilia's sister might be at risk. Agency spokesman Brian Gregg confirmed agency workers have met with the family but he would not say more, citing confidentiality laws. The Hamilton County agency was alerted on Aug. 28 by Clermont County Children's Protective Services, Gregg said.

Re: Ok, I could not believe the news!
I saw this on the news tonight. There was a video of her at the school where she was dropping off donuts. Didn't seem like she had a care in the world. What I want to know is how do you remember the donuts and forget that your child is in the car? Where did she think she was for the 7 hours she was in the school? I, also, saw her taped interview at the police station. I was not convinced that she was geniune. It looked like a good act to me. To not charge her with a crime is beyond comprehension, especially, after she was warned once before about this behaviour.

Re: Ok, I could not believe the news!
That's the thing...how can someone say it's not criminal when she has done this before and was previously warned of the risks?!

Re: Ok, I could not believe the news!
This is so appalling I cant even stomach it....
You know, I check the back seat about 500 times a day even though I know that Cailen is in daycare?
Yes, I'm a bit nutty, but he is always on my mind. Always. His well being is my priority always, always, always. If it means I look back at an empty backseat, then so be it.
This is an older mom, an educated woman, a woman who's career is children... who should have known better
I am sickened and disgusted.

Honestly, I would think she suffered the single worst punishment someone could ever face. I agree. she will have to live with the knowledge that she killed her own baby for the rest of her life.
