Would it be crazy for me to go to a mall with DD? **UPDATE**

DD is 3 weeks old today and I wanted to take her to a park, just to get some air and get out of this house, but it's going to be too hot to have her out there. Would it be crazy to go to a mall for a little while with her?

Update:
Ok so we went out to Buy Buy Baby. DD was great up until we were about to leave. She started crying..so we literally ran to the cashier, paid and left. We put her in the car..and she stopped. We drove to Barnes and Noble and decided to get some food (fast food) and she started crying as soon as the food was given to me. At that point, I told DH.."oh well..we tried. Back home we go".

It really was too hot out there!

I tried to stay away from public places like that for 6 weeks....

but, if you are going to - - make sure you put the net over her carrier so no one is tempted to touch or anything!

no way, GO GO GO!! i went with DD at about a week old....she was born in june and was just TOO HOT to take her outside until like 6pm, so wed hit the mall....my DD and probly a lot of DD love the sound of the mall- its very white noise-ish and shed love it!

I did from day 1 with both my kids. They were in their infant carrier and we just did what we had to do. I wasn't one to sit home.

I went out with baby G from the 3rd day we were home, but I stayed away from malls. Just too many people and the damned recirculating air. I went to local stores where there were way less people.

That is the one place I really tried to stay away from with Jack. Too many people with too many germs IMO. And, that was really the only place my Ped told me not to go with him. I really went almost everywhere else.

The park should be good if you are in the shade.

My 1st son was born in Dec. and I took him to the mall at about 2wks and even had him have a picture w/ santa. Never got sick as a baby.

I took my boys out, but stayed AWY from the malls. Like some people mentioned, too many people that can be sick.

I wouldn't. Taking her for some fresh air is one thing an enclosed crowed mall is entirely another.

BTW: Malls are going to be SUPER crowded today with kids and parents due to back to school shopping.

I waited the full 2 months to bring DS out in public places.
He was born in Jan. so walks were even out of the question. I went nuts.

His first place of going out was Friendly's with my parents, DH, and I.

I wouldn't go to the mall just because it's so crazy now. It's too hot to be outside and with back to school shopping.

How about a museum?

ETA: DD was born in December and we went for walks on warmer days starting at about a week old. At 2 weeks, we went to dinner in off-hours (lunch at 3pm) and the mall during the day when there was hardly anyone shopping. We went to a museum at 5 weeks, I just kept her carseat hood up. No one bothered us.

I wouldn't go now because of the crowds, but I did take DD when she was just a few weeks old. She went everywhere I did. Target, mall, post office, etc. I didn't let people touch her and kept the canopies up. She hasn't been sick yet! (knock on wood). I think it's all that acidophillus I took when I was preggo, because I've been sick, she just never caught it!

I would, but then again I'm a bad mommy. We had both my children out when they were days old.

I say go for it..you need to get out. Put the hood down on the infant carrier..the only time you get germs is if someone sneezes or coughs right up close to you. Make sure your baby is shielded... Good luck!

i went out within the 1st week-could never stay home for that long! DD was in the peds office for a checkup a week after birth- talk about germy places! the peds office is crawling w/ them!! i was more worried about that instead of target or the mall.

I took him to the mall, BBB and BRU, wherever I wanted at 3 weeks, just not during the crowded busy times. The dr. recommended I stay home but to me that is crazy. DS is fine and never even had the sniffles.

I wouldn't go to a mall. Maybe the library or just for a scenic drive.

we did, he was a week old when we took him to babies r us and 11 days old when we took him to the mall...
