Anyone give a chewable vitamin instead of liquid?

and if so how old is your DC? Roman's bloodwork came back fine but he hasn't taken his liquid vitamins in a few days. I was thinking of calling Dr. Cavanagh and seeing if I could do a chewable, lord knows he chews teething tabs like they are going out of business so I thought this would be easier for him to take.

Sarah's been on chewables since about 18 months since she was refusing the liquid ones and was really good about chewing food. She loves them, she asks for them at every meal, and gets all excited when we give her one.

what brand do you give her? I was thinking of giving them to Hayley but when I looked a brand in the store it said 3 and up.

Re: Anyone give a chewable vitamin instead of liquid?

Rj has been on the prescription chewables since last month...

At first he was doing really good w/ them. We kept the bottle in the candy jar, and we give him one after dinner nightly...Recently, however- he wants nothing to do with them, and at by chance I get him to eat it, he spits it out after he chews it up.

Im considering buying the OTC "gummy" ones- The Dr. strongly suggests using the prescription, since it has flouride- but if he continues to give me a hard time, we may resort to gummy- some vitamins are better than none- right?

I believe my older children were put on chewables at 18 mos. Before that they were on liquid starting at 6mos. The vitamins I use are the multi vitamins that the dr. gives me a script for. My children love the chewables (HATED the liquid) my older son who is 9 still takes them.

Thanks everyone, I'm gonna call and ask for a script for the chewables. His eating hasn't been the greatest and I want to make sure he's getting enough nutrition.

I think the flouride is the most important mineral in them, especially if DC is a good eater -- then they are getting most of what they need from their food, but need the flouride for their teeth, which is not in food.

Both my boys started on the prescription chewables at around 18 months.

Re: Anyone give a chewable vitamin instead of liquid?

its amazing how doctors have different opinions regarding vitamins with flouride. during my DD's 3rd year visit, i asked her ped. about prescription vitamins. she told since we live in an area where there is flouride in the water, i shouldn't worry. i mentioned to her that she is not a fun of drinking a lot of water, she said that she can get flouride from cooked food. i give her the chewable ones too.

DD gets Gummy-vites and their calcium (she doesn't drink milk or do much dairy). The chewables were too hard for her so this is what we're able to get in her.
