Re: so, we're not going on a honeymoon after the wedding anymore
My friend couldn't go away on a honeymoon bc they are teachers and got married the end of Sept. They went away for a three day weekend and decided to go on a real honeymoon this summer. They just got back from Hawaii yesterday.
Some places you could go....Newport RI, Cape May NJ, Block Island, even Montauk.
Sorry you can't go away but you'll have plenty of great vacations in the future to look forward to!

We didn't have a formal honeymoon right away either due to DH's job. The day after our wedding, we went up to Mystic Seaport for four days and had a great time. Six months later, we went to Bermuda for ten days!

I know a lot of people who weren't able to go on a honeymoon right away.
Stay somewhere nice for the night and go on a great honeymoon when you can!

Re: so, we're not going on a honeymoon after the wedding anymore
We have 2 kids, so a honeymoon just wasn't in the cards for us.
Instead, we booked a night at the Hyatt Wind Watch in Hauppauge and spent our time alone - we ordered room service and watched movies and .. hrmm... .. let's say 'played scrabble'.
I think it is almost nicer for you. You can spend a short time together and then be home and ready to settle into MARRIED life. And then when you are just starting to settle into some routine, you can spice it up with that belated honeymoon!

Re: so, we're not going on a honeymoon after the wedding anymore
I still haven't gone on my honeymoon and I was married in October. With the cost of the wedding, we just couldn't do it.
Plus, I had just started a leave replacement at a school and could NOT ask for off.
So, we had the weekend and went to work on Monday. Did it suck, YES!!! However life went on and we are planning a trip now.
I am sorry this is happening to you, but it could be worse. Don't fret! For all of those who are making comments to you, please tell them that it is NONE OF THEIR BUSINESS or simply say if that is your offer to pay for our trip, we accept! That is what I said and it s hut people up quickly

Re: so, we're not going on a honeymoon after the wedding anymore
Friends of mine got married in Oct. and went on their honeymoon this summer. They both work in schools and didn't have vacation left to take so they waited for the summer. They are coming back next week from a 6 week honeymoon traveling to different countries in Europe (I think a total of 3 or 4). I dont think their is anything wrong with that all.

There is nothing wrong with postponing the HM. Things happen and it doesn't mean anything about the relationship or marriage.

We went on our HM 8 months after the wedding, because DH was in school at the time. It was worth the wait!
I don't understand why people are giving you a hard time.

Re: so, we're not going on a honeymoon after the wedding anymore
My BIL & his FW are going for a long weekend to a resort in Florida after their wedding in November, and then might take a longer honeymoon in the summer when he's off from teaching. But I think they'll just put the money towards a house when the time comes.

Re: so, we're not going on a honeymoon after the wedding anymore
I think it'll be nice to have your honeymoon to look forward to after all the wedding stuff is over with. It'll be like a nice little continuation And to hell with people who have something to say to you. I mean, he obviously has a good work ethic if he knows that work is important in the midst of all the wedding excitement. Do you know how many people are irresponsible enough to say, "Whatever, I'm going on my honeymoon anyway?" even if they're job requires them to be there? Remind people who have something to say to you that you're marrying a man with a great work ethic, which is something that lasts a lifetime, unlike an immediate honeymoon

Re: so, we're not going on a honeymoon after the wedding anymore
How about hudson valley wine country? We were up there this weekend and it was so beautiful! The mountains are beautiful, so many wineries, breathtaking views, farmers markets, B&B's, and along the Newbugh waterfront there are some amazing restaraunts. We were there this weekend with my family and it was WONDERFUL. I would love to do it as a mini-moon. VERY romantic.
ETA: NOTHING wrong with postponing the honeymoon. It';s better than postponing the wedding just so you could have a honeymoon right after and make everybody ELSE happy. Seriously lots of people do it. It's not always the best time persnally or financially to go on a honeymoon right after. In a lot of ways it's even better to wait..you'll have had time to settle into married life, you won't be exhuasted from the wedding, you'll really be able to enjoy it!

I second one of the Ceasars Pocono resorts...it's a nice little getaway and they really cater to honeymooners....

Re: so, we're not going on a honeymoon after the wedding anymore
Personally, I think this is ideal! You have something to look forward to months after your wedding. Unlike having all the excitement at one time! Maybe you can stay the night in an expensive swanky hotel in the city?

Re: so, we're not going on a honeymoon after the wedding anymore
We had this issue, but it was my job that was hindering us.
We went to Newport, RI for the weekend - stayed at a hotel (although there are plenty of B&Bs) and we toured the mansions. We took the ferry up and drove back.

Re: so, we're not going on a honeymoon after the wedding anymore
i would go into nyc and stay at a high end hotel like the ritz... they totally pamper you and will even more so if you tell them it's your wedding night.
then - you guys can do whatever you want while you are in there - relax, see a play, shop, etc...
Sorry your HM is being postponed, but you will have something really nice to look fwd to when the tahiti trip gets here!

I went on my HM in June (got married in April)
it's no big. we went out east, stayed at a nice hotel on the North Shore (I think it was Danfords or something like that) and went to a few of the quiet beaches the next day.
it's YOUR life. live it the way YOU want to..and quite frankly, effff every one and their opinions.
