almost 28 wks and not much movement
last week, my doc said i should feel the baby at least 10 times per day by now - 2x per hour except when he's sleeping. but i'm getting worried b/c i only feel him once in a blue during the day. i'm trying to concentrate on my belly more and more, even though i have been setting up my classroom - but it's hard to do with so many things to take care of.
for those of you around or past this point, did you feel the baby a lot or was it still on occassion?
thanks

Re: almost 28 wks and not much movement
I'm 26 weeks and only in the last few days have I felt the baby pretty regularly. Not sure twice an hour, sometimes more, sometimes less.
But before this week I hardly ever felt the baby move. Freaked me out so much that this past weekend I went to the hospital, and what I saw was very reassuring - the baby moving around like mad, and me just not feeling it.
My advice would be to go to the doctor, ask for a sono, and see how you feel while watching it. See if when you see the baby moving you are feeling it. It was reassuring to me to see that he's moving and I just don't know it.
Others who are closer to your stage probably have more useful insights.

Re: almost 28 wks and not much movement
I am 28 weeks today, and am definitely feeling less movement than a few weeks ago. Doctor said it was normal - there is just less space for her to move around in as she grows.

Re: almost 28 wks and not much movement
You tend not to feel as much movement as you are moving around. For one reason as you move around during the day you are basically rocking the baby to sleep. This is why when most babies are newborns they tend to sleep during the day and are up at night. The baby has developed its sleep patterns while inutero.
This is my 4th pregnancy and while all my babies have been pretty active this is definitely my most so. But it was only until about a month ago that I really started feeling him while I was standing up or moving around. Perhaps that is why when they tell us to count fetal movement they tell us to lay down. I know I definitely feel him more that way.

Did your Dr. give you an idea of where your placenta is? I feel this baby soo much more than I did in my last pg because the placenta is behind him. They told me that a lot of times if the placenta is infront of the baby, you will feel less movement. Just a thought...

when you are busy during the day, or preoccupied, you may not feel the baby even though the baby does move. Maybe it would help to stop some times to just feel the baby, you may find that it moves more than you thought

Re: almost 28 wks and not much movement
I agree with the above poster. When I am running around I barely feel a thing. If I start worrying about movement I barely feel anything as well.
The best time to judge is when you are relaxed, feet up - my Dr said turn tv off and just chill for 30 min. you should feel something.

I'm so glad you posted this. I'm due right around the same time as you and this week my baby has slowed down a lot. I mean I still feel her, but not as much and her movements arent' as strong. She used to kick on demand. I would put my hand on my belly and bam she would kick. So I don't know if she's gotten bigger or if she's in a different position but it's definitely not as much. I haven't called the dr. because I do feel at least 10 movements a day.
Oh I noticed you are a teacher? What grade do you teach?

Re: almost 28 wks and not much movement
I sometimes feel nothing for hours. I feel it all night but I feel very little during the day, even if I stop to try to really focus on it. However, at yesterday's sonogram, he was certainly moving but I was not feeling it.

Re: almost 28 wks and not much movement
I know you are busy but if you can possibly lay down twice a day, in a quiet room on your left side... usually it gets the baby moving.

Re: almost 28 wks and not much movement
If you are concerned call the Dr.
I will say though that my Dr told me to look more for a pattern rather than how many times per hour. He slept mostly during the day, only kicking after breakfast and lunch, and then also when I got in the car to get home. Other than that most of my movement was at night & while I slept.

Re: almost 28 wks and not much movement
I'm 26 weeks and the baby is rolling around like mad, but only when I am still. I barely feel movement when I am walking or even driving.
If you feel nervous, sit or lay down and I am sure baby will move around a little.

Re: almost 28 wks and not much movement
we are due the same day ---- and i really dont feel her all the time... mostly after meals if i am sitting still and at night time while im in bed.. that said.... when i had a sono last week it showed that my placenta is anterior -or upfront - meaning that there is a cushion between where she is kicking and what i am feeling.... so that cuts down alot of what i am feeling!

Re: almost 28 wks and not much movement
thanks for your words of encouragement. i felt him more today than i have all week. i was also in a ravenous mood, so maybe he's just growing and getting bigger. i think the placenta may be in the way, though not sure. I'll see how things go this weekend!
thanks for all of ur help! i truly appreciate it!
p.s. kindergarten to answer a pp ?
