Age for cereal
At my sons 11 week appt, the dr said that we can start cereal, but we dont have to. He said it is up to us. How old was your child when you started them on cereal?

Your doc probably follows the AAP guidelines. A lot of them don't.
I haven't started Emma on solids yet. I plan to wait until she is six months old.

another cereal question...
this is a silly question but when you start on cereal is it in the bottle mixed with formula or by spoon?

My understanding is that unless your baby has reflux, the cereal should not go in the bottle. But I'd check with your doctor.
Our ped said between 4 and 6 months- we split the difference and started at 5.

3 months. Why don't you want to start?
Some moms want to hold off because there is a theory linking early exposure to food and allergies
We are waiting two more weeks until they are 5 months.

3 months. Why don't you want to start?
Because babies have an open gut until they are around 6 months old which means they can't properly digest the foods earlier. Early introduction of solids has also been link to diabetes and food allergies later in life. Looking at DS's baby book, I started him at 4 mos, and he doesn't have any health problems thus far, but I figure I'll wait for DD.
