BFing moms of 7-8 weekers

How often does DC nurse during the day? How long are they sleeping at night?

If you give bottled BM, approximately how many ounces does your DC take in a feeding?

And lastly, what's your nap situation like?

We still don't have a set schedule for eating/sleeping/and especially napping.... and I'm going back to work next week....Chat Icon

DS nursed or had a pumped bottle every 3 hours. I "think" he was eating 3-4 oz at that point. Until I ready Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child we didn't have a very good nap system. I realized I was keeping him up too long and missing his tired window. Even now at 9.5 months, DS goes down for his AM nap about 2 hours after he wakes up.

So is Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child appropriate to use at this age?

Can you give me a quick description of *the sleep window*?

Basically the book taught me that DS needed more sleep, which I already knew, because he was barely napping and didn't sleep for more than 4-5 hours at a time at night. He was a complete crank pot because he was always sleepy and overtired.
The book basically says that babies can only be awake for 2-3 hours at a time. I was kind of waiting for him to pass out out of exhaustion and it just never happened. So I learned that after 2 hours of awake time I would take him in his room, rock him for a while and put him down for a nap. By doing this, he went from barely napping, to taking 3 scheduled naps a day. He still faught the nap, but by rocking him I was able to get him to fall asleep.
As he started getting more and more scheduled, I rocked him for less and less time. Now I can put him down in his crib for a nap or bedtime completely awake and he will put himself to sleep. Now of course, he still needs help once in a while, no child is perfect, but from where we came from to where we are now is amazing!

ETS- another good thing I learned was that putting DS to bed later, does NOT make him sleep later. In fact, the earlier he goes to bed, the better and longer he sleeps.

I wasn't able to get a set nap schedule for my nursing daughter until she was four months old -- don't be too hard on yourself, your baby is still very young. I'm sure her caretakers will figure out what she needs!

I pump only... ds eats about every 3 hours during the day 4 oz of breastmilk... during the night he usually sleeps 4-5 hours then he will eat 5 oz...
he naps during the day in his bouncer or on the couch but it is not more than 30min-1 hour...

DD (6 weeks old, hope that's okay Chat Icon) eats about every 3-4 hours - but sometimes throws in a 2-hr span. At night, we can get up to a 5 hr span, but that's rare. She also sleeps a LOT during the day - so much so that the last 2 nights she has been wide awake at 3 a.m. Chat Icon But I can't keep her up during the day bc she's a complete crankpot when she's tired! Not so sure when I'll be able to figure this kid out. Chat Icon Chat Icon

ETA: For a BM bottle, she takes about 4 oz. I was giving 3 at first but that doesn't seem to fill her.
