Why did you want to marry your spouse?

I'm getting married this Saturday and have been working on an essay I have to write for the priest... My essay is "Why Todd?" and Todd's (my FH) essay is "Why Kara?"

I'm very much enjoying writing it and just thought it might be an interesting topic to see "Why (YOUR spouse)?"

My essay has to be a secret from my FH until the wedding day -- mainly b/c we both know our priest will probably read them during the homily. (He did this at my brother's wedding anyway!) So I can't post exactly what I wrote, but I'll give some main ideas when I finish up! I just want to be cautious because I do want it to be a surprise for FH, as his will be for me.

The essay sounds like such a nice idea!

I don't have time to be eloquent right now, lol..but to answer the question...

I knew I wanted to marry him because he made me laugh more than any other guy I'd ever met. I think that is the most important quality in a spouse....the ability to turn anything into humor..it helps you get through the hard times in life, and to laugh with a person you love is the best feeling ever.

I also thought he was damn sexy! Lol!!! That didn't hurt either

WHY? well my DH kicks as$, he is incredible. He deals with me, takes care of me. He showed me that a great "normal" guy DID exsist. He makes me laugh and with out a doubt has a heart of gold. Im lucky. I know this. He is very respectful and would put me first no matter what. This is why I married him.

I'll list some reasons:
Of course b/c I love him.
He is my best friend.
I trust and respect him on a level I never did anyone else.
He makes me laugh; we have always have fun and a great time together at home or when out.
He accepts me for me, never wanted to or tried to change me.
He is never puts me down or makes me feel inadequate; he is always respectful of me.
He is caring, kind, thoughtful and considerate.
He would do anything for me and now for our family.
We share the same values and want the same things in life.
He is very giving.
And basically b/c I knew he was my soul mate. I have never met another person who made me so happy. Who took the time to get to know me and loved me for me, the good and the bad.
Plus, We always joke that noone else would ever want us b/c we shave such a sick, twisted, bizzare sense of humor when joking around and laughing with each other.

In Hebrew, there is a word called "zivug" - it means, your soulmate. Your zivug is someone that, when you meet for the first time, you feel like you've known him your whole life. It's someone who ends your sentences, and you end their sentences. You find that you think the same things, at the same time. You even look alike.

My DH is my zivug - I saw his picture on Jdate and emailed him. We met a few days later at a coffee shop, and the moment I saw him, my heart stopped. Not the, OMG, He's SOOO HOT, stopped (though he is damn cute ), but more like, OMG, my life is going to change from this moment, stopped. In that moment, I knew I stumbled on something bigger than myself.

We talked for 5 hours. Everything he said, I had at some point in my life, thought. We were finishing each other's sentences. I felt like I had known him my whole life. It just "fit".

Later, that night, my friend asked how the date went - now, mind you, my friends knew me as the girl who always said she would never get married. I truly, truly didn't believe in the institution of marriage and that I would meet someone I could imagine spending the rest of my life with.

I responded, "I met the man I'm going to marry toniight". And, almost a year later, we were married

So, to answer your question - why my DH? Because he's my zivug.

He is strong-willed. He doesn't take my crap, stands up for himself & will tell me when I'm out of line (little did I know how much I would hate this trait after we were married).

He has the best sense of humor. Makes me laugh as I've never before. He has an amazing way of thinking of things, very logical. He's intelligent & witty. He can tell a funny story like no one else can.

He is the world's best hugger.

Beth's post reminded me of when I first met DH. I couldn't stop smiling when I talked about him. Ahh....best feeling ever!

Wow. I feel like I can’t even put into words how I feel, that it would ‘cheapen’ it or I won’t be able to express it eloquently enough. I don’t know that I could answer it in a ‘short’ way that would do justice to him and how I feel about him. He makes me feel that I am the only woman in the world. He makes me his number 1 priority. He gives me 110% EVERY DAY. He made me realize there is a PERFECT. He makes me want to achieve all my goals. I love him so much, he’s the most amazing man – and he’s HOT I could go on and on, but you get the idea...

I've never felt safer or more beautiful than when I'm hugging FH... I want to feel that forever

He has the biggest heart of anyone I have ever met.

He would do anything for me.

He loves me unconditionally and thinks I am the most beautiful woman in the world, in spite of all my flaws.

I have 100% trust in him, which I never experienced with anyone else in my entire life.

He loved mne for who I was not what he thought I should be. I could be myself, in all my sillyness, in all my crankiness, etc. He encouraged me to go forward with some ambitions I had, he loved that I was on my own, had made it in the work world, loved to cook. 10 years ago when we first met, he said I looked beautiful when I just woke up He stil says it now He loved me back then as a size 8/10 and loved me more now 2 children later and a size 14/16.

Because he's been described, by everyone who comes into contact with him, as the nicest guy in the world.

He's so intelligent and down-to-earth. I couldn't even begin to say all the things I love about him. But I do feel extremely lucky.

I married DH because:

He was/is always there for me.
He is extremley Caring.
Very family Oriented.
Outgoing.
Loving.
He goes above and beyond to make me happy.

This is why I married My Best Friend!

he can make me laugh like no other....except for myself of course....i mean come on im one funny ba$tard

we have fun no matter if we are doing nothing sitting on the couch or out

he would do anything to make me happy and hates to see me sad ...i do look pethetic when im sad

i can stress out verrrrrrrrrrry fast about things and he has this way about him that is sooooooooooo calming

he is talented beyond belief....teach the boy something and he learns it and can do it better than u in seconds.....annoying bc it takes me forever to learn something and even then if its physical im the biggest spazz.....but sooooooooo admirable\

he made me be able to trust someone and know that its ok to let ur guard down and fall in love bc he loves me back like no other.....simply put eventhough this post is not simply put i really went on forever...... geez.......... someone shut me up BUT simply put WE ADORE ONE ANOTHER

5 years ago, when we got married, my reasons would have been & now still would be:

He treats me with respect.

He's never raised a hand to me.

While he does not make a lot of $$$, he works hard.

He is honest.....never lies.

He gets along so great with my family!! This is huge to me.....he could hang with my family when I am not around!! When we 1st met 15 years ago, he never thought twice to say lets take your little brother & sister somewhere (even though the kids always fought!!!).

He loves me for me......and by this I mean, my body (however it looks at that time!!!), my moodiness, my craziness, everything about me!!

i personally wouldnt want to do that. i could never put into words why i wanted to marry my dH.
i would think most people marry for the same reason. mostof the time its love.
