I had a c section but yes, the contractions hurt. I wasn't screaming but I did start crying, and yes, it does hurt enough where I can see why people scream.

WARNING: TMI

i am the mother of one.

i had him au natural... no drugs, in a birthing center.

i can not speak for anyone else because we all have different thresholds for pain.

this is what i felt.

contractions = very strong mentrual cramps

child-birth = very strong stomach ache when you have to poop and you can't hold it in. sorry for the TMI.

it only really hurt for a moment until the head is out. the rest slides out.

i have felt worse pain.
i had my gall bladder removed and an ovarian cyst. they hurt worse.

Re: ok BIG question for the mommies

Yes. It does. It's excruciating, palpable, mind-blowing, almost what I would call exquisite pain.

I labored for almost 16 hours - most unmedicated, indescribable back labor. Ended finally in a c-section, so the worst for me was the labor, not the delivery.

Yes...it hurts! I had a natural delivery...no drugs and DD was only 4lbs 2oz when she was born...and I was screaming. I can't imagine if she was a normal size baby how much it would have hurt more Chat Icon

Oh yes, I had back labor also, which I heard is worse (but I have nothing to compare to).

Sorry to the pp, but IMO, it is worse than severe menstrual crampsChat Icon

Just think of swallowing a 10 lb (for me anyway) watermellon and trying to pass it through your pelvic bones. Chat Icon

2 births in the hospital (no birthing center). Exact description of the pain.

My recovery from getting my bunions removed was much worse.

My contractions when I went into labor and had my DD were mind boggling Chat Icon The kind where I couldn't walk or talk through them. That's why the epidural was invented and it was the best thing ever. pushed her out and didn't feel any pain at all with my epi Chat Icon

birth with no pain meds at all= I was hoping to die quicklyChat Icon

With epidural- it is all goodChat Icon

I literally became delusional from the pain and truly thought that death was right around the corner due to the pain intensity, I totally thought something was not right, but it was just plain old natural child-birth painChat Icon Chat Icon

Don't listen to this one...she is a rare oddity when it comes to childbirth.

It hurts...trust me. And I have a very high threshold for pain.

Because it's worth it - maybe not the first 6 months. But, the day your child runs into your arms and says "I love you mommy" (or, in our case, more like, "I uv oo mommy"), you realize you would do it with 10 times more pain, just to recapture that moment Chat Icon
