Online shopping - I fill a basket with stuff but I don't buy it.
Planning a trip - I will go to expedia and plan like I'm really going away (and if I'm lucky, the trip happens).
Drive out to the beach and sit alone to people watch, think, write.
Plan a gathering with a friend - or many friends. Seeing them is better than any therapy in the world.
And sometimes I just drink.

Cling to my husband. Like velcro.
Or sometimes, I drive with good music blasting. While talking out my anger or sadness to no one in particular.
And daydream about something I have to look forward to. Getting together with friends, family, looking for a house, etc.

Down over trivial stuff, or serious heartache down?
A pedicure, a good book, a phone call to a friend, daydreaming abut somewhere I want to travel to, or a cuddle with DH will lift me out of a crummy mood.
If it's a really bad thing, working to make it better usually does it.

Music is my therapy.
Sometimes, I even tourture myself & play sad music.
Shopping is somtimes a temporary relief.

I'll go into the bedroom, open up the window and sit on the trunk that is by the window and smoke a mini chocolate cigar. I don't smoke at all, but this just makes me feel better. If I do this once a year, its alot. I'd have to be really down and out....

take a long drive to nowhere in particular, something about it settles me. On a really bad day I day dream about what would happen if I just kept driving and didn't come back, where I would end up etc.
or a bottle of red wine. Yup, sometimes the WHOLE bottle!

drinking, watching sappy movies on TV
it used to be shopping- but then when I realized what I spent- I would get more upset (that was how I was after my Mom died- blindly shopping - now I am paying the bills- so I don't recommend)

it was usually doing things that just occupied my time. Right now, itsmy niece. She makes me forget about anything that is bothering me.

Ok do this:
On your way home, stop at the liquor store, buy yourself a bottle of Geyser Peak Sauvignon Blanc, some chocolate (or other comfort food), put the baby to bed, put on some cute shoes (doesn't matter if they don't go with what you are wearing) and lay back and watch SATC re-runs and live vicariously through Carrie Bradshaw.
