I was bullied big time in the 5th grade by other girls because I was already past the training bra stage (I developed quite early). Of course then being that age, I was very self conscience, but now, I know they were just jealous.

No bullies? Ask my son. Extemely tiny, easy target. Going into 7th grade (Now going into 9th) a kid on the bus, who had gone through puberty, so he was a head taller than my son would pick on him every day. During lunch he would ask him if he took his dwarf pills. On the bus he would announce that it was Ignore Nick day. Now this age is difficult enough, but being the brunt of a bully makes it harder. My son said something back to him one day and the kid punched my son in the stomach and knocked the wind out of him. I wanted to kill the kid, but my son didn't want me to. Eventually my husband went to his house and told the parents. They never even called to apologize and this was someone who was very new to the neighborhood and I introduced everyone to him and went to his house and introduced me and my kids to the family. So yes there are bullies and they stink. Things are better with him but not allowed to hand with him.

Here are a few things I was subjected to by bullies at my elementary school and the teachers AND principal did NOTHING about it. And this was at Catholic school:

1) Told all the kids that I had AIDS so no one would go near me (this was in the 80s)

2) At the lunch table, chewed up their food and spit it in my face

3) Made fun of the way I walked in front of everyone so then everyone mimicked the bully (saying i had a big butt)

4) one of the ringleaders even took off her undies in class, put them in a little box and made one of her minions give it to me

5) the ringleader went out to the water fountain, cupped her hands under the water, came back into the class and threw it in my face.

This all happened within one year, and she always managed to do it when no one was looking.

Then the next year, I developed severe acne so that added more fuel to the fire...I could go on and on.....but the things she said and did to me were heartless. She had mental issues I think.

I run into a lot of bully lawyers and judges. I suspect that some of them were the kids who were picked on and now they are making up for it.

I cant believe how many of you were bullied

i was a quiet girl but friends with everyone. I was NEVER bullied once in my life. I really didnt think it was that big of a problem. I thought it was only maybe one kid per school ignorant, i know

I was bullied alot growing up and still abit in my adult life. Mostly verbal abuse about my appearance (big nose), clothes, or group.

I jsut hope when I have kids I don't raise any bullies.

I was TORMENTED throughout most of my childhood, because I was chubby.

This went on from about 3rd grade to about 10th grade.

To this day, the main person that did it to me is on my "who would you kill if you were guaranteed never to be caught" list. As of his senior year of high school, he still hadn't changed.

I think the comment that "bullies are a figment of your imagination" is a load of $hit. Ever hear the phrase, "ignorance is bliss"?

As a teacher, I see bullying at lLEAST on a weekly basis. Bullying is not just verbal, it comes in many different forms. One thing I CAN say is that since I personally dealt with bullying back in grade school, I know how it feels to be on the receiving end. I will NEVER permit bullying in my classroom, AND I will continue to educate ignorance about bullying, no matter which way, shape or form it appears.

As a teacher, I can assure you that bullies do exist.

Yes i was bullied as a kid , i was beat up by a boy he gave me a blackeye, i was called names, i was spit on.and i was told by another kid on the block i was not allowed to ride my bicycle around the block because he thought he owned the neighborhood, he actually pushed me off the bicycle. So again to answer your question..YES I was bullied and i do believe in bullies and i dont think they can change.

I had been bullied when I was young.

It's still a huge issue for kids now-a-days and schools/camps take it seriously!

I don't allow myself to get bullied now.

I'm sorry that some of you had to go through any of that crap, but damn, I can't believe how much of it.

Spitting?? Oh no. See, I don't know where any of you grew up but that would've merited a real beatdown - Brooklyn style.
