Spinoff to CF....how long is too long of a wait?

Forexample, I expect a wait on a saturday, but i think anything over an hour is too long. No matter where I am. But we've gone to Chili's on a friday and the wait has been about 45 minutes and people will leave claiming it's "ridiculous." I don't get that. Do you want to walk right in on a friday or saturday even.?

Thoughts?

If I am with FH he will not wait more than a half hour

I would personally wait up to an hour though

There's a restaurant near my job that is so good, the wait can be up to 2 hours.

I, on the other hand, am not willing to wait that long.

We go out to eat early on weekends--before 6--because neither of us has the patience for long waits. We usually won't do longer than 15 mins.

I usually wont wait. If Im hungry, Im hungry.......and I need to eat pretty much within 15 minutes. But a wait of 45 minute--to an hour.......no place is that good for me to want to wait.

Its not like there isnt tons of other places to drive to.

we learned our lesson when on V-day 2004 we waited at Jimmy Hays (they don't take reservations) for OVER TWO HOURS before we ate. I was so drunk, I don't even really know what the h I ate!

But it was FUN!

it depends on the situation... if i'm super hungry, i won't wait more than like 20-30 minutes. BUT, if we're not super hungry or in a rush and if we're out with a group of friends, i'll wait up to an hour... but no more than an hour EVER!

I wont wait long then 30 min, I hate that. If we go out to eat I dont want to spend the whole night waiting. I would like if I had to wait just long enough to finish a drink and sit down to dinner.

we won't wait more than 20 minutes... If we think of it, we will call ahead and get our name on a seating list, if they have it. Or we just make sure we can make reservations when we head out.

This is why I dont' go to chain restaurants. You spend just as much as if you go to a private restaurant and at least for a privat restaurant, you can make reservations.

I will not wait more than 30-45 minutes for a table. DH and I usually go out for an early dinner on Sat nights in order to avoid the crowds. we usually skip lunch and eat a late breakfast on weekends, so by 5-5:30pm, we're starving.

I could wait hours.

DH's maximum is 45 minutes.

With kids, that drops down to a half hour for both of us.

We almost never eat in chain restaurants.

We won't wait anywhere that says it will be longer than 20 minutes ... and then usually it isn't even that long.

Anything over an hour is too long for me. I get cranky when I'm hungry.

Long waits are just one of the reasons I hate chain restaurants. I don't like waiting more then 30minutes, unless we are on vacation. If they tell me 45min, we usually find somewhere else to eat. I hate when restaurants are too crowded.

I won't wait more than 15 mins, there are plenty of restaurants in the metro area. No need to wait longer. Make a reservation if the place is very popular.

I have waited more than 1 hour at a restaurant during V-day and am very upset whenever I think about it now. Would NEVER go to that restaurant again as the long wait left a bitter taste in my mouth. They didn't tell me I would need to wait that long...

I didn't even remember the food, I was that upset.

Having worked in chain places like that, I can't imagine waiting longer than 30 minutes. Seriously, the food is NOT worth it. We were at the Olive Garden the other night. We stood longer than we sat. Granted, it was a Friday night, and we knew better, but never again.

Another reason why I like my little Japanese restaurant down the block. Packed and no wait!
