Spinoff to whether or not you care
So, many, including myself, agree with this nrthshgrl, that we care what certain people think, but not what others think.
So, following that, do you really think that we can get an accurate impression of what everyone on here is like? Can you really tell who is intelligent, who is kind, who is sympathetic, who is silly, etc? Or, do you stop and think, maybe it's all a facade and the impression we have of one another is totally off?

Totally agree with the first statement.
Second, I feel that so much is subjective on the internet. I think we many get accurate impressions sometimes, but not as accurate at others. You can't hear someone's tone or see their body language on the internet.

I seriously am exactly who I am on this board in "real" life...gets in trouble there too ...it's hard to think that people may be putting on a show for others...fake has to be so time-consuming.
I am a ballsy person though, so maybe someone with cajones can have one virtually?

I think we can get impressions of people on here by reading their style of writing, tone, seeing how they respond to others generally, if they are a person of conflict and start drama often - at least I can make general observations about how some people are - i think we all do that.
but i also believe that you can't always judge a book by its cover - and its sometimes easier to express yourself here than in real-life face to face situations - so my observations of posters probably aren't always accurate.

When I'm bored and perusing the boards, I like to put posters into categories. They're fairly simple to spot.
- Intelligent
- Less intelligent 
- Compassionate
- Desperate
- Obsessive-compulsive
- Obnoxious
- Funny
- Sarcastic
- Lonely
- Depressed
- Hopeless
and my most "popular" category:
- Attention-seeking
But this is only when I'm bored.

I think you get a fairly accurate impression of people.
I have met quite a few people on the board and most have matched the personalities that come across on the boards.
It's hard to hide your true personality, especially when volatile topics come up.
