Private callers
the past 3 nights we have gotten a call from a private number. when we answer it, nobody is there. is t here any way t o find out whose been calling

You can call your telephone provider and block numbers that are private, but otherwise, there is no way of finding out who they are.

is it on your home phone number and do you have caller id? If you have caller id, activate anonymous call rejection. I have been out of work on maternity for a few months and cannot remember if its *77 to turn it on.... The phone company cannot tell you who called using a private number.

If someone chose to have their phone say private, the phone company cannot tell you. It's a violation of the private caller's rights. If they wanted you to know who it was, they would leave a message or unblock the number.

I think you can dial *57 after the calls come in, but if my memory serves me, that's the code to use when you're receiving harassing calls...so, don't qoute me on the *57 idea!

Yes, call trace is for harrassing or threatening calls, you need 3 traces and have to have a police report and be willing to press charges
