I'm starting to see how people say age 3 is worse than 2!

I'm starting to see how people say age 3 is worse than 2!
Everyone keeps saying "you think two is bad, three is worse!" And I think, how could it possibly be worse than yelling, screaming, tantrums, hitting and throwing food? Well, I think i'm starting to see it. The tantrums are not as much and his behavior is changing a little, now it is outright disobedience. The idea that they can't express themsevles and therefore throw tantrums is a part of the past. He can communicate and understands everything, so now it is "No Mommy, I don't want to!" 
But, I'd also say that overall it is better than two because you can explain that good behavior=happy mommy=happy boy.  So consequences now exist in his world.
Anyone else going through this lovely transition time?

MY son always had his fair share of terrible 2's, beleive me, but yes, I do have to agree. He is 3 now and I am in for some ride! HE's testing my limits and gets fresh sometimes because he really knows how to express himself! PLus he is forever tormenting his 1 year old sister!

2 was a nightmare, 3 was easier with Joseph.
With Maddie, 2 was terrific, 2 was was  . I kept asking myself "Why did we teach her how to talk???"
