how does everyone pick?

i just signed us up for  baptism, it will be at the end of sept ( is due 8/7), we went for our first meeting on wednesday. We are undecided b/c i have 2 brothers & DH has 1. DH brother is a far cry from a role model, not that mine are saints, but there is a difference. I agreed to pick out of a hat for the godfather. We are choosing a close family friend for the godmother.
if we only had 2 men to choose from, 2 godfathers would be a possibility, but in this case it wouldnt help that much.

Our first set of godparents was easy. DH's Brother is the godfather, and my cousin in the godmother.
For the next child there will be a debate. DH will want one of his sisters - and I do not - I want my other cousin who I am extremely close to. He can either have his other brother - or I would love to have his nephew who is just such a great person. We'll fight about that one when the time comes.

The godmother is easy - my sister (and best friend). Now for the godfather it is a bit more difficult, neither of us have brothers and I would prefer family. We think we know, but it isn't definite yet.
If we are blessed with a second child, who the heck knows! Probably one of DH's sisters or a close cousin for the godmother. As for the godfather, no clue.
