The Freddy Update of the day
Had a pow wow with his rehab team and doctors. My cousin and I were the only ones from my family and my parents were on a conference call with my husband on my blackberry since there was no phone in the room.
Fred was also present..cool.
We all talked about his progress and it was positive. He does have a long way to go and will go to anther place before coming home.
I talked to my mom about them coming back to NY. Possibly getting a 2 bedroom apt so Fred can have a temporary place to come home to before being sent out on his own.
I bought him a slice of pizza for lunch. My cousin got him a watch which he loves and his cell phone will be coming on Saturday.
He said he wants to go home. I told him he will but not yet. I also let him know it's temporary. Gave him a big hug and kiss and told him I loved him and he is not alone. Everyone is looking forward to his recovery.
Can't wait to throw him that party.

He puts a lot of pressure on himself and he gets down on himself. I try to tell him that he has come such a long way. I wish he really understood it. He was sedated for over a month on a ventilator and we didn't know if he was going to make it.
I keep reminding him that we love him and we are proud of him. Maybe when mom and dad come next week it will help him. He really needs them now.
I need an apartment for mom and dad...first floor..2 bedroom so Freddy can have a place to stay for a while..spread the word.

I wish I could do more. I'm so grateful for everything so far. I am faced with some obstacles for his care, but I believe things will work out.
I have to have faith. I believe in prayers and that if I try as hard as I can, things will be good.
He's out of danger now. Now, we are concerned with his quality of life. he will probably need cognitive therapy for a long time, maybe his whole life.

thank you. His therapist suggested word association games to play with him. I was thinking there has to be books I can buy.
