Constant Heartburn...
For the last two weeks or so, I've been getting heartburn every day. For the last two days, I've had between 5-8 episodes per day. It's so bad now that it actually aches in my stomach (just like the agida I get in my throat, but worse). I've taken 6 extra strength tums already today. The pain gets better for about 30 minutes, and then it comes back full force.
What is this??? Should I go to the doctor? I'm afraid they'll want to do a scope or something.
Has this ever happened to anyone?
TIA

Re: Constant Heartburn...
yes go to the dr! it could be acid reflux.
in the meantime, try zantac 75 and see if that helps.

Re: Constant Heartburn...
Is it at all possible that you are pregnant? That's a first offender symptom of pregnancy

Re: Constant Heartburn...
Prilosec OTC also works well- but you need to be on it a few days to see results.

Re: Constant Heartburn...
I was waaay stressed out a few weeks ago (Grad School finals, i did my own wedding invites and were trying to get them done, work was super busy and we are working on our house)
Everyone will tell you thats a pregnancy symptom, but it wasnt for me, thank goodness
I took tums and drank a lot of water - didnt drink any soda or "acidic" stuff. after my life calmed down a bit it went away.
If it bothers you, go to the Dr.

Re: Constant Heartburn...
No way, no chance. I've been taking bcps for over 10 years now, and knock on wood, nothing.
Besides, I'm getting symptoms for my (.) coming this Wednesday.
I'll keep popping Tums and if it doesn't go away by Friday, then I'll make an appointment.
Blech!
Thanks for the advice/suggestions!!!

Re: Constant Heartburn...
make an appointment if it's constant! The acid is not good at all for the lining of your esophagus!
To ease it try: dairy products to coat don't eat within 3 hours or bed or activity stay away/limit coffee, spicy food, acidic foods (tomatoes)

Thanks, I will. I'm going to try calling my doc now. This can't be good to just let go.
