Levaquin - Side Effects...**UPDATED**
I was prescribed this and went online and found soo many people with some awful side effects from this medicine.
Now I am a nervous wreck to take it.
Did anyone have a good experience on it?

DH was just on this a couple of weeks ago for pneumonia. I just looked up the side effects, and while he had some of those symptoms, I don't think they were a result of that, but the pneumonia in general (peeling skin rash, yellowish skin, bloodshot eyes, etc.). If you don't mind my asking, what are you taking it for? You can FM if you want, don't mean to get too personal. In my opinion, it really helped him. That combined with ALL the other stuff he was on finally turned him around. Feel better!

I have a bad sinus infection. I was only given 7 pills to take. But I am freaking out.

I took the highest dose for nearly 2 months!! - when I had my kidney infection last year and was hospitalized. I got severe headaches the first 2 days of taking it, and then nothing. How many mg are you taking? I read the side effects but besides the headaches, nothing.

It's a really strong antibiotic, and after Googling the side effects (did you do that?), I can understand why you're nervous. 7 pills isn't a lot though...is it one a day for a week, or 2 a day for 3.5 days? DH had it through an IV for a week, and in a pill 1/day for 14 days. I know everyone's body is different, but I'm pretty sure he's bigger than you  , and it really wasn't terrible.
If you're really concerned, is your doctor available tomorrow? Maybe you should call and discuss it, and he/she can give you an alternative or put your mind more at ease.

I took this a few months ago and I had to stop it right away. I had head-to-toe hives, I vomited uncontrollably, and I had really bad intestinal pains.
It absolutely did NOT agree with my body, and I actually had to add it to my medicine allergies list.
Everyone is different! Who knows if anything negative will even happen to you.

I took it when I was hospitalized with pneumonia. I don't remember any side effects at all.

me too.
Its often prescribed for ear/sinus infections.
Although I took a generic once, and it KILLED my stomach.

My cardiologist prescribed it to me after my surgery. I am on it for 7 days, because of a UTI. He told me that it is strong stuff, but for me the risk of getting an infection was not worth the risk of the side effects of levaquin.
ETA: I have not had any side effects. Although, I learned pretty quickly that cannot take it on an empty stomach.

I was prescribed Levaquin for a sinus infection, after the first pill I threw the rest of the bottle out. I have never been so high in my life!!! I have tried many a concotions may they be legal or illicit and Levaquin was the worst high of my life. Insomnia, Dizziness, Hallucination....I had a full conversation with my dead mother. To this day, I swear she was sitting next to me.

Last year I had an infection in my foot it was pretty bad and I didnt want to be hospitalized. I took the levaquin and it really worked. I had some side affects, constipation, then diaherra but nothign major. I then got a post op infection and was on it again and same thing

Well, last night I started getting pins and needles in my cheek and lips. I decided at 11:30pm that I should go to the ER. I just didn't feel right.
As soon as I got there they took me in because to them it looked like I was having a stroke
They took a zillion tests, CAT scans, x-rays, hooked me up to an IV right away. Finally at 7:00am they said I had some inflammation in my brain that was causing all of my symptoms. They said it was nothing serious. They gave me an anti inflammatory and on Monday I have to go to the neurologist.
They told me I don't have a sinus infection at all. Now I am furious at my MD (well my dr was not in so I had to see another dr in the practice) for ever saying that and prescribing that medicine
Final Diagnosis at 8:30am at the ER, Migraines, Tension Headaches, in conjuction with anxiety.
I am so tired I can't take it. DH is sleeping now and I am taking care of Andrew. I am so mad that he is sleeping and not helping me but I am trying not to get too excited about it.
Thank you all for letting me vent

feel better and wake up your DH!!!!! W T H????? Umm, you just spent the night in the ER and he is sleeping. I would take Andrew to your parents and get some sleep there. I would be fuming

i m on levaquin right now for pneumonia and i feel fine on it which is shocking b/c usually antibiotics kill me, i think every body is different

OMG I cant believe that!!!!! And furthermore, your DH needs to wake up, pronto!
I took it a few weeks ago for tonsilitis and it felt no side effects. I was still sick for a week or so after I took it, but much less than I was at the beginning, in the end I was fine. I guess everyone is different.

Levaquin is not available as a generic. You must be thinking of something else.

It could also have been the sinus infection causing your symptoms.
