Peapod

With the baby I am finding it harder to find time to go food shopping and I really dont want to bring him with me. I was thinking about using PeaPod but I am kind of nervous b/c I dont get to look at and pick out everything myself. I know a bunch of you guys have used them before, any complaints? Are they clean?

I have had nothing but great experiences with them. Even their produce is perfect when I get it delivered. It is soooooooo convienent...try it and you'll never go back to regular grocery shopping!

Re: Peapod

I haven't used them, but my neighbor uses it weekly. The truck always comes the same hour on Monday nights - one of these nights I'm going out there to get more info!!

I know she absolutely loves it!

Re: Peapod

It seems so time consuming to go through and find what you need. Isn't it much easier just to walk through the aisle's and see what you need?

I LOVE peapod.

The first time is time consuming- after that you can work off your old lists.

It is really hard to food shop with the baby. I also find that I spend a lot less because I don't do the impulse buys.

Re: Peapod

I don't use Peapod, but I've used Fresh Direct. I can just tell you that by not walking up and down the aisles, I've knocked as much as $45 off my weekly grocery bill. That makes it worth it to me.

Re: Peapod

I love, love, love Peapod. I only use it once a month for my big shopping. I buy all my meats, bulk items (toilet paper, water, paper towels, etc) and then i add enough produce for that week. I save so much $$ by not shopping the aisles.

And then I usually go to the store maybe twice in between deliveries for fresh produce.

The produce/meat that gets delivered, I find, is fresher then what's on the shelves typically.

Re: Peapod

I don't like peapod.

I always have a problem - missing items, produce rots by the next day. But maybe it's just my region (Westchester). Chat Icon

I love peapod for everything except produce & deli. The meat is always super thick, which I skeeve (even when specified thin sliced). My produce has also been pretty crappy.

I love PeaPod. never had a problem. I stopped getting cold cuts from them though because thin sliced to them is too thick for me. Fresh meat. Fresh produce, not a problem.

Re: Peapod

I love Peapod because it saves me money. I use the quick list and write the stuff that I need - instead of wandering the aisles grabbing sh*t that I don't need.

And I hate waiting in lines.

I know a lot of people have had success but we have problems with the one we deal with - I think it probably varies depending on which store is supplying your groceries.

We have had problems with much of our order expiring within a day or two of delivery (yougurt, milk etc).

The last time we used them we ordered about 25-30 items. The only thing they brought was the four bottles of water we ordered - the delivery driver didn't know whether they were out or forgot to put it on the truck but we were told to refuse the order and call and try to reschedule the delivery for another day.

Exactly. I spend so much less, even after their fee. The only problem I have ever had was with them sending milk too close to the expiration date.

Totally opposite for me. It takes me 10 minutes tops to order from Peapod and at least 45 min at a grocery store.

I love Peapod.

My only complaint is that you aren't notified if they are out of anything until you get the groceries.

I did it before my Montauk trip & the skipped a few items because they were "out of stock". My friend did it for Thanksgiving & found out last minute that they were "out of stock" on turkey.

I would do it for general things but if you need something special, I'd buy it in the store.

I am a big fan of online grocery shopping. I use Waldbaums. It doesn't take that much time and I usually put my order together later in the evening or at work. It's alife saver! I go to the supermarket every couple of months to remind myself it's worth the delivery fee.

Re: Peapod

Is the delivery fee always $9.95?? I thought it was half that cost. Do you get coupons or anything towards it?
