So, my little niece saw "the period movie" at school
And the teacher demonstrated use of a panty liner.
Then my niece went home and asked her dad (my BIL) if he ever had a wet dream.
Then she told my 7 year old nephew that someday he will have a wet dream. My sister's response--"well, he wets the bed NOW!!!!!"
I wonder if I really am ready to have children.

That reminds me of the time I asked my dad, How's it hanging, stud? after seeing the movie Grease at the age of 8.

Re: So, my little niece saw "the period movie" at school
the fifth graders in my school have been doing the health class too. I had one girl and one boy in my room yesterday when the girl informed us that she finished health and got a gift bag. Before I could stop her she told the boy his gift bag will be different b/c it won't have a "pad" in it. I freaked only for her to inform me that the boys learn all about periods. The boy so casually agreed and then I quickly got them back to work.
Did the boys learn about periods when we were kids? I don't remember that! DH said it was mentioned to him but he didn't learn much then.

i remember in 6th grade, we were taken to different rooms, girls in one and boys in the ohter. we learned about our bodies first then we watched a video about the boys bodies. it was an interesting time in our lives. lol. though most of the girls were too busy playing x marks the spot on each other's backs, or braiding hair. :)

I distinctly remember the period movie they showed us in health class. It scarred me. A girl was sleeping over her friend's house and one of them gets her period for the first time so they tell her mom. The mom is cooking breakfast so as she is explaining the menstrual cycle, she proceeds to pour the pancake batter in the shape of the uterus with 2 pancakes at the end of each tube as the eggs. I seriously wanted to die and have never looked at pancakes the same!!!! DId anyone else have to watch that movie?

My younger brother in law- who is 10 and in 5th grade is going to his "puberty talk" today! parents were invited and my MIL/FIL couldn't go, he asked me to go to with him because "other parents were going"... I kindly declined but I do wish my DH could have gone with him...

Re: So, my little niece saw "the period movie" at school
well, at least she knows about it.
the brilliant parents in my district (when i was young- this is going back a while) threw a fit when they heard anything like that was going to be shown. so they just did some class on the anatomy of a human and that was that- never discussed wet dreams or periods, etc.
btw- things changed right after our class and they started showing those videos and informing kids so that's good at least-- but for me, i had NO idea b/c then my Mom never told me (maybe she assumed i WAS learning it at school?)
in any event, when i got my period i thought i was dying and needed to be rushed to the hospital- i came down the stairs screaming for my dad to call 911 b/c i was bleeding everywhere and going to die...
yeah, good idea parents- DON'T show the informative video.
luckily, i am no longer traumatized and happen to think this story even at my expense, is really funny. definitely one for the grand-kiddies!

OMG I would've been SO upset if I saw this movie! I LOVE pancakes!!!!
I just remember going to see a movie at my school with my mom. I was petrified after that. Every little thing that felt different "down there" had me so scared that my period was coming! Funny thing is that I don't remember ANY part of that movie.

I couldn't understand why my parents were awkwardly looking at each other when I was screaming "we need to get to a HOSPITAL!!!!!!" and then I'm thinking-- are they in shock that my life is in danger??!?!
then they go "no, you don't need an ambulance" and my mom tried to pull me to the side to tell me what was going on and I'm thinking "omg i'm going to die and she is going to tell me there's nothing she can do for me!!!!"

I grew up in Ohio and saw "the movie" in 5th and 6th grades. Girls in one room, boys in another. I don't remember that movie well but the "Miracle of Life" movie in 10th grade is burned onto my brain.
