girls who have sold houses...
how do you deal with keeping your house clean while its on the market?? we met with the agent tonight and will have it on the market by thsi weekend, and i'm already stressed about having to keep it clean and neat all the time in case they have somebody that wants to come look at it! how much notice do they usually give you before they bring somebody by?? any hints or tips?? thanks!

Re: girls who have sold houses...
it's hard! especially with a 1 year old in the house! i'm so thankful we sold our house in only 2 weeks. i don't know how long i could have kept it up! i made sure that i cleaned up every night before i went to bed and also every time i left the house i straightened up. there were a few times when i was out and got a call on my cell that someone wanted to show the house. when i was home i wouldn't worry about it, if i got a call i could quick run around and straighten up. it's not that my house was that messy, i'm just anal about it looking perfect when people were coming. and with my ds there are always toys laying around everywhere! usually i had at least a days notice, but like i said there were a few times when it only like 2 hours. my advice is to start with it really clean and every night spend a few minutes to keep it that way. if you keep on top of it, it doesn't take that long. good luck!

Re: girls who have sold houses...
June 13th it will be a year our house is on the market but hopefully our closing will be before then. I would drive myself crazy the first few months then I said scew it. If people wanted to come they usually gave me at minimum an hours notice and I told that to 2 agents I had. I did the big cleanings on the weekends like normally and just straightened up at night. I also came to realize that I wasn't going to worry if it was a little dusty I wanted to make sure it was neat. People arent going to notice that stuff anyway. If you ask my agent (diana1215) she will tell you I went over board on the cleaning part but I think I calmed down from when I orginally listed.

Re: girls who have sold houses...
thanks! thats what i plan on doing... just straightening up a little bit every night so it always looks neat. the good thing is we don't have kids yet, so we don't have to worry about toys, etc- but we do have a dog who likes to move things around! i'm a teacher so over my spring break in april i did a really "deep" cleaning ( under the bed, behind the dresser, behind fridge, etc) so i'm starting off with it nice and clean, so its just a little bit everyday to keep it that way. hopefully, it will sell somewhat quickly and i won't have to do this for too long thanks again!

We always keep it neat, just the way we are. We pick up as we go, do one major house sweep a night, and divide chores throughout the week, with a big clean on the weekend.
