Re: Story in todays Daily News

Honestly I think Disney is a little afraid. Say they slap a lawsuit on Hamas. What do you think Hamas will do. What they are known for. Blowing themselves up in the middle of Disneyworld.

Wow... this is terrorism taken to an entirely new level. I could say a lot more about this, but I'll keep my views to myself on this one.

They can't. There's nothing they can do about it. U.S. Courts have no control outside the United States.

It's frightening what people will teach their children. Chat Icon

This is beyond disturbing for sure. Chat Icon

As an intellectual property lawyer, though, it isn't as simple as just having Disney sue them. First, Disney may not even own IP rights in Mickey in the country or countries where this has aired or was created. Second, tracking down the people responsible in another country would be $$$$$$$$$$$$ and potentially impossible. Then you have the problem of whether or not the foreign courts would even do anything about it.

Finally, a trademark or copyright lawsuit isn't going to stop Hamas or put them in jail.

Okay, off my legal soapbox... back to being saddened and disturbed. Chat Icon There's so much hatred in this world. Chat Icon

Disney owns IP rights in many countries, so it's possible they could sue them... As I said above, though, it's doubtful they own rights wherever this was made -- and even if they did, it's even more doubtful that the foreign courts would do anything about it.

ETA - Should have put in there that Hamas, not being a government and operating in a part of the world where there are no courts that could do anything with respect to this... a lawsuit is out of the question.

Just another side note, as an American Arab, I do not like being generalized and associated with such a disgusting group.

Please refer to "them" as Islamic Extremist or Terrorists, not as Arabs. There are Terrorists outside of the Middle East and not referred to as Arabs.

I didn't mean to offend. Sorry about that. DH and I just watched a debate about the Israeli/Palestinian conflict which took place at Oxford Univ. 99.9% of the Q's from the students were from Muslims wanting to know why Hamas isn't a recognized Govt by the US & UK.

after seeing that clip on the news (and the 1000's of other hamas related atrocities), IMO, their questions were ludicrous!

Re: Story in todays Daily News

I saw this on Fox 5 this morning and it's absolutely disgusting. To taint the minds of children at such a young age is a crime. It's as if they treat their children like killing machines, and while I understand that no country outside of the USA "has to like us" - this is appauling.

p.s. While it looks like Mickey Mouse, I don't think it is, which is how Disney can't file suit against them.
