Possible TMI Stiches Question

I delivered on 4/26 and I had a second degree tear, she used the stiches that dissolve and I was wondering if anyone knows how long that takes. I still kind of sore and using the bottle and blotting dry instead of wiping.

DH said he thought they would have dissolved by now, but I don't know.

Re: Possible TMI Stiches Question

Mine took forever to dissolve. I gave birth Nov 9 and they still weren't totally gone around Christmas. I think it's different for everyone.
I used that squirt bottle forever because I was so nervous about making that area even more sore. Use that bottle as long as you want to. If you find that you are really sore I think there is some cream you can get from your doctor that helps the area heal a little quicker.

it felt like an eternity!!!!

I used the bottle for a very long time and I was still extremely sore at my 6 week. Poor DH had to wait a long long long time because I was so uncomfortable. Chat Icon

Re: Possible TMI Stiches Question

I iced for a long time too. I was pushing for 6 hours so I was VERY sore/swollen for ever! The nurses at the hospital gave me some of those long ice packs to bring home - those would help with the acheyness.

Re: Possible TMI Stiches Question

It'll be a while before they dissolve. I was using the bottle and dabbing for a few weeks b/c it was so sore. Also you figure since the area is damp, the stitches need to stay for a while for things to heal up. I don't think a week or two would heal anything down there Chat Icon
