What do you think of this?

What would you do, if your Mother in Law, or SO's Mother, came into your home and you had pictures displayed on a sofa table or bay window ledge, and they moved the pictures around to display them differently.
Not to place the pictures themselves in any order, put to set them up to look the way she wanted them to look, several times on her visits over?

Is it me, or do you not tgo into someone's home and rearrange their things?

Oh NO I would put them back the way I had them, right in front of her. I find this horribly rude. If you asked her opinion that's one thing if not, oh heck no. RUDE.

IMO, that's just rude. My MIL tried to do that with me with how I set the table. I Set her straight.

I don't have the nerve to say something, so I told my SO, and she thinks it is ok for her Mom to do this and that I am just "complaining"

You are right she doesn't have a right to move your pictures around.

If it bothers you that much, kindly ask her to stop moving the pictures.

SO RUDE. DH had to step out when we were having furniture delivered so he had his mom come to the house in case the couch showed up. She MOPPED the kitchen while he was out, and threw out some bread she said was moldy. It totally irked me. Don't clean my house or touch my stuff

Thats my grandmother! She is like that though...she always has to move my stuff ALWAYS! I just let her do it and then put it back the way I had it...

My MIL and FIL moved my furniture around when we first moved into the house.

They were given an extra key and it was the first time they came over. I came home from work and was like - What the F????

BIL has done it several times too. Rearranged something. But in his case I think he's snooping and isn't good at putting things back so it doesn't look like he was.

I agree its rude, but I wouldn't have the guts to change it or say something - I'd wait till she left and change it back. I guess I'm like my mom , b/c she said her own mom used to come over our house and rearrange the furniture - once she left my mom changed it back and the same thing would happen every time she came over!

No way. I can barely handle it when DH touches my stuff, let alone his mother.

I don't understand how anyone thinks that's acceptable. I realize that not everyone is as territorial as I am, but there should be a certain level of respect for other people's space and property.
