Naptime help needed for almost 1 year old
Brendan will be 1 yr next week and he had been a pretty good napper, but for the past few weeks his napping has been totally off. He used to wake up around 7, take a nap around 10-10:30 for 1.5-2 hrs and then take another nap for about an hour around 2:30-3:00. Now some days he's not even taking a nap at all and when he does take a nap the time of day is so inconsistent. One day he'll take a nap at 9:30 and the next it might be at 12:30 or a totally different time. I can't figure out when to put him down for a nap. I try to watch to see when he's tired and put him in his crib, but even though he seems tired, a lot of times he'll just happily hang out in his crib for an hour or more. Of course as soon as I give up trying to get him to nap and we try to go somewhere in the car he falls right asleep. Is it possible he's dropping the second nap and if he is it common for their schedule to be wacky for a while until they fall into a new pattern? I just don't know what to do with him.

Re: Naptime help needed for almost 1 year old
Brendan's almost one!!! This won't be much help, but Logan's schedule has been off for at least two months. Same thing...some days he sleeps 30 minutes, some days he takes two complete naps I know some of my (our) friends have had better luck...usually they drop down to one longer nap at this age, but Logan's always needed two shorter naps...I don't think there is any rhyme or reason sometimes unfortunately.

It definitely sounds like he's ready for one nap. When DS' nap schedule started getting wacky like that, we made the conversion. He takes one nap around noon now and it usually lasts for 2-3 hours, depending on how much sleep he got the night before.
