The artificial sweetner debate....
My doc said no artificial sweeteners (My mother isn't allowed in the hospital room without a Diet Pepsi when I have the baby)...
But it's up to you and how you feel...if you think everything in moderation, then go for it!

What kid of artificial sweetener is it? When I was preggo with my daughter, all were off limits, but now, they are saying Splenda in moderate amounts is probably safe. I always drink regular soda, so I dont really know what to tell you.....

Im pretty sure Aspartame is in diet soda..if so, I hear its OK in moderate amounts....I drank crystal light here and there and DR said it was fine.

Diet Pepsi is the one thing I would kill for since I got pregnant. But I'm scared to drink it. I don't know what to tell you.

i tried a regular one and it was way too sweet for me I called my doctor and spoke to the nurse. She said it was ok in moderation.
Funny tho when you think about it. The things we are scared to eat/drink when we are pregnant but don't think twice about it when were not...makes you think maybe these things are not good for us at all

This is a huge personal debate but there is nothing concrete that says you cannot have it. It's a personal choice in my opinion.
I have been drinking diet coke throughout my pregnancy without any problems nor worries from my doctor. It's just a matter of moderation. Personally I would say get a can if there is caffeine in it. 20oz may be a bit much.

I drink a can of diet coke at least 4-5 times a week. I did it with DS and he was fine.

I never drink soda usually but have diet coke every now and then pregnant - when I crave it - I'm sure the baby will be fine....

i asked my doc yesterday and she said in moderate amounts but if i can avoid it, its prob best. she said milk and water. she wasn't even to thrilled with juices because of the sugar

I have been drinking water mixed with juice as my main drink but once in a while (maybe 2-3 times a week) I have a diet soda with no guilt. The doctor said to avoid it but not a big NO to it.

i think it's totally fine as long as your not drinking every day or all day long! once in a while, here and there, will probably have no impact.
Lord, my mother smoked with me and i'm ok! not saying that smoking is ok at all or anything but when i think of how horrible that is i think that an occasional diet drink is ok! enjoy it!

why go for diet when you can have the full calories of regular!!
One of my biggest craving with both pregnancies is soda. I don't like diet but I drink soda all the time and my daughter is perfect.
In moderation its not going to hurt.
