question for anyone who had or is having sheduled c section

Explain to me...why I have to have a internal next week and a strp b test when I have to have a c-section>
ugh..I'm so ****** and I am fighting it if noone else had to do it.

Prob just to check to make sure that you are not dilating...If they see that you are, they will prob take you sooner...just my guess...I had a section with my first and had exams as well.

I was thinking that, depending on my growth sono, they may schedule a c-section for me. If so, I do not think I would need an internal but who knows

i had a schduled csection and i still needed an internal and a group strep b test. its routine.

I thought strep b only was passed during a vaginal birth..and I can see the if i am dilating they can take me early-but I am already going at 37 weeks..they really can't take me earlier.
its annoying..my friend did not have to do any of this.
Im so sick of peoples hand in my crotch!
Sometimes every darn week!
I was excited thinking the poking was done.

Strep b is just a swab of the outide of vagina and rectum, no internal poking needed.

I am sorry they are making you do it, the baby isn't coming through there!

Maybe just in case you do into labor before the C?



ETA: YOu def can turn down the internal, no reason to check your cervix, i made them not do it.

I actually cannot have an internal b/c of the possibility of bleeding. I am so sorry they are making you do it

As doc explained to me you get the group B test because if you have it and go into labor and break your water before baby comes out you could pass it on to newborn baby and that could harm them. Its more of a precaution. If your water does break before the C then they will give you an antibiotic ASAP.

As for the internals there is no need for them and I refused them with both Jeremy and Lucas.

I had to have the group b strep, but they never checked my cervix. I thought at my last appt they would, but they didnt.

then thats that..I will do the swab and thats it..
They said with the internal..its to see if I am dilated but they won't "move" things along...
I was like--I go and get a vaginal sono every month--then every 2 weeks then every week! why do u have to do that?
I am not doing it,..enoughs enough.

I was in the room right before my c/s and some resident came in and tried to do an internal..hum NO ahole. A) you are NOT my doctor. I have never met you before b)I am about to have a major operation in about 3 minutes and c) I don't allow male OBs to exam me. And I said it in that order. He actually got "offended". Oh, and I added "I am not going to let you exam me just so you can get some practice"...

You should only do what you are comfortable with and all of your questions should be answered as well.
