Question about Nutramigen.

My DD was put on trial of Nutramigen yesterday and it seems as if she is not eating as much. She isnt sucking on the bottle as she usually does. She's been only drinking 2 ounces. Did your DC have the same problem. Is it that she dont like the taste of it or something. Will they get used to it?

Re: Question about Nutramigen.

It takes time. When DS was switched to Alimentum (Similac's version, which I hear is similar to Enfamil Nutramigen) it took him a day or two before he got used to the the new formula. I think the taste just threw him.. He is a big eater and he was only finishing maybe 1/2 of his bottles before he got used to the Alimentum (he was previously on Similac Advanced w/Iron).. After the 2nd day, he was used to the taste and back to eating his normal amounts.

He does so great on the new formula, I hope the same is true for your DD!

Re: Question about Nutramigen.

Jen, If you search my posts about Nutramigen you'll see I was asking the same question. She definitely took less for about a week or 2. She also pooped after EVERY bottle where before it was once a day. It took Hannah about 3 weeks to eat more and regulate. She's great on it now.

I hope it works for Paige!!!

You know its very expensive - try calling Apria to see if your insurance covers it. You'll need a note of medical necessity from your doctor and a prescription. Don't call your insurance directly, let Apria do it.
