Baby Name Help: Would this be weird?
DH and I can't decide on names we both like for the baby. We'll probably end up picking one when the baby is born like we did with DS.
Anyway, the other day DH suggested Alexander. The problem (at least I think) is that DS's name is Nathaniel Alexander. I said we can't use that bc it's DS middle name. He didn't think it was weird, while I'm on the fence leaning towrds no.
So, is it weird to name Baby #2 the middle name you gave to Baby #1?

i personally wouldn't do it - i would want my #2 to have a completely different name... but this is a personal decision, and i think you guys should do what you feel comfortable with.

Re: Baby Name Help: Would this be weird?
I don't think it is weird. My MIL did that when she named my DH and BIL. My DH' s middle name is the 1st name of my BIL and vice versa.
My MIL said she did this because she really loved both of those names.

My sister and brother have the same middle name (which can be both for a girl or a boy).
Most people will not know the middle name of child #1.
You can use it for the first name of child #2 if you like it.

I don't think it's that weird. I've known brothers that had their first and middle names the same just reversed. I mean really, how often does your middle name come up that it would be a big deal.

Re: Baby Name Help: Would this be weird?
I am giving my baby the same name as my business so who am I to say something is weird??
Honestly, I think it's fine -- kind of cute even.

I agree with this. There are so many names out there; I wouldn't do it.
JMHO.
I do love the name Alexander though and we are considering it ourselves.

Re: Baby Name Help: Would this be weird?
My oldest brother was named after my father Thomas Michael and then my other brother was later named Michael Jon so I don't see anything wrong with it-in fact it never even crossed my mind until I just read this post!

Re: Baby Name Help: Would this be weird?
I think it's ok, if it's what you want to do.
I have a student named Edwin who has an older brother named Edwin. Now THAT's weird!
