Anyone use Dr. Peter Oppenheimer in Bellmore?
I am looking into Pediatrics, and I like that it is close and that they are a part of LIJ/North Shore and Schneiders...

Re: Anyone use Dr. Peter Oppenheimer in Bellmore?
Quite a few of us use them. I'm really happy with them. There can be long waits for well baby visits in the winter, but when I've had to call with an emergency question and they wanted us to bring Andy in, we didn't wait long at all and the doctor spent 45 minutes with us.
I've seen all 4 doctors and one nurse practioner. They have never made me feel like I'm asking a stupid question, and I never feel like they are throwing a lot of medical jargon at me. They speak to you in a way that you'll understand exactly what is going on.

Re: Anyone use Dr. Peter Oppenheimer in Bellmore?
I used them for one month when my son was first born. I didnt care for them. I only saw Dr. Oppenheimer and he missed Jacob's Acid Reflux or should I say when I mentioned it, he quickly shot it down, and it turned out he did in fact have it, and needed to see a GI dr. because of it. He kept brushing off his symptoms as colic and was very dismissive with me. I switched and my new Ped is FABULOUS! Good luck...

Re: Anyone use Dr. Peter Oppenheimer in Bellmore?
we go there. I don't find the wait to be too long, and I love how whenever you call in the AM they have you come right in.
My only gripe about their office is that they can try to push you off to a NP for a visit, unless you specifically ask for a ped.....I learned that the hard way after being stuck with the NPs a few times. I am not knocking them, but in the beginning we had a lot of issues and food allergies, ezcema, etc and I think the peds are the ones to deal with for those issues. So now I just always ask for a ped.

I set up a ped. interview with them. I will let you know what I think. I may also go to Garden City Peds. I heard alot of good things on here about them as well.

I go there too and I am comfortable with everyone. It gets hectic for us bc I feel like I am there alot with 3 kids so many times I dont specify who I want to see. I am fine with a NP - I never felt like they were pushed on me and many times when I dont specify, I get a Dr. Certain things I will only see Dr Andy for bc he is familiar with the history of it. Dr Peter was not my favorite (or my DH's) for a few minor reasons but when my DS had bronchilitis @ 6 weeks old, it was a very trying time with daily visits and a few ER trips. Dr Peter was 100% spot on with everything and called me a few times to check in. He said I could come in the morning of 4th of July to see him if I wasnt comfortable not coming in that day to have his breathing checked. I am now comfortable with him. Dr. Andy is the young progressive one though. A friend of mine works there and she said that he is the one they all go to when they need another opinion.
ETA: I used Dr Chusid, who was mentioned upthread, when I had my kids at the hospital (Oppenheimer practice doesnt work from Winthrop) and he was excellent too.

I liked Dr. CHusid too - his practice is further though I think.
