Do you really have to wait a year? My niece was given regular milk at 9 months. I was thinking of doing the same thing with DS. I know if I ask the ped, he will say wait a year.

I transitioned both at 12 months per my pediatrician's advice.

I started to slowly give her cut her formula with milk at 11 months. 1/4 of her bottles 1st week, 1/2 the next, 3/4 the third, and by 12 months she was fully weaned...

I waited until a year with Sarah, and will do the same this time.

11 1/2 months and by 12 months he was on whole milk for feeding as per my doctor and I BF for comfort. I think 9 months is too early because they are not getting the nutrients from the formula/breastmilk.

Re: Honestly, at what age did you give your DC regular milk?

I've heard that BM and formula should still remain an important food source for them for the 1st year. I plan on starting the weaning at 12 months or maybe slowly at 11 1/2 months. I know the ped will say 12 months so he may ok it at 11 1/2 months.

9 months sounds a bit early.

Yeah I hear ya. Everytime we buy milk which seems like everyday LOL. I always tell DH how many months we have left until the 1st year. So we have 4 more left...

We get the RTF so once we start regular milk it will help our wallets too.

I plan on doing this because I noticed with my dr. she kinda expects you to be doing it when you see her. For ex. she thought I was already giving him dairy at his 9 month visit.

Our ped told us same thing.

DD will be transitioned after 1 year mark. Her best nutrition still comes from formula and milk doesn't give her that.

I agree...

They should still have the BM or Formula milk up to 1 year.

10 mos and he did great. We transitioned in 4 days. Per the ped's instructions, I substituted one bottle of formula for milk each day.
