thank god someone posted this.

i think it is almost embarrasing how adults love disney so much. and i may get totally flamed for this, but to go there on your honeymoon?????? that is so weird to me. it is totally a childhood-only type thing to me. even my il's who have tons of money and can go anywhere in the world go to disney by themselves ALL the time. I just don't get it.

not flaming, but you must think I am a real nut then huh?? Chat Icon

I LOVE going to Disney but I wpouldn't be caught dead wearing Mickey Mouse on my shirt or anything. Nothing is worse that an adult wearing cartoon characters on their clothesChat Icon I don't collect figurines or anything. I just love being there, it really is such a happy place. DH and I went there last year and had the best time ever. We found plenty of "adult" things to doChat Icon

Re: This is my opinion only....Disney Obsessions...

I've only been to Disneyland (probably 5 times as a child/teenager), so maybe I'm missing the WDW experience, but I just don't get it.

What bothers me most is the descriptions of Epcot or wherever the fake countries are. I just don't get it how people can go on about an imitation of a country, but not actually visit the real country. Chat Icon

"France" is not France.

Are you talking about clothing? Because I can't stand Disney themed clothing for adults OR children...

There's a lady on the train that wears one of thoe varsity jackets, you know with the leather sleeves... it has a huge Mickey Mouse on the back and for some reason it annoys the hell out of me... then again, most things do..lol

I loved Disney as a kid and I just recently
went as an adult and it was just as fun...although we didn't do the parks the entire day

I would take my kids there as well -- but to be obsessed with disney clothing or paraphanlia - I don't get that.

It might bring adults back to a happier time when they were younger and or more carefree - I have no idea really

I never understood it

Ive been to Disney a million times but not in the past 15 years or so and this is my take on the obessesion:

If you go there a lot thats fine because hey some people love Vegas, some love cruises, some love skiing, Europe, tropical, etc.

Its the clothes that get to me - especially those nasty leather armed jackets - UGH!

As far as house decorations as long as its tastefully done I wouldnt object.

Heck if there was a Simpsons theme park I would be the first one in line to get in!

Disney is just not MY thing, but if it makes others happy, so be it.

I never really loved Disney so I never understood the obsession for adults.

I have to admit though that I loved Knotts Berry Farm in Cali because it's Peanuts themed and I love Snoopy! Chat Icon

I love Disney World- its such a magical place.

FH and I took a trip there, he was 25 and was never there - imagine a 5 year old with a credit card! we had the BEST TIME...

and I have a tinkerbell pillow that says "good things come in small packages"

however, please kill me if you see me in a goofy sweatshirt.

DH and I have been to Disney when we were kids. I wouldn't go there as an adult. When I have a kid I wouild probably take them. I think it's for kids.

On a different note.........my friend is completely obsessed with Disney and so is her whole family. She even uses Mickey soap in the shower and to take off her makeup....that cracks me up!

Re: This is my opinion only....Disney Obsessions...

when we went on our hm, we bought a lot of disney stuff. mostly frames, albums and a few things for the kitchen. and a mickey ski hat b/c it was freeeezing the last day we wer there. i bought a mickey tshirt b/c it was cute, but that is it. no oversize pleather jackets with ginormous mickey on the back, they scare me and i don't see th point. you like the mouse, we get it, why not wear a pin or a pair of socks, gets the point across, right?

DH went there on our HM and we loved it...It was just a lot of fun for us...We are planning on going back in the summer hopefully

The Disney clothing I don't understand...we each got one shirt when we were there only because we were freezing one night (from sunburn it was July)

My roomate in college was obsessed with winnie the pooh....it was a little silly but I guess that was what she liked

Re: This is my opinion only....Disney Obsessions...

I never got the clothes obsession myself. I used to have some Disney stuff in the house, but I don't even really have that anymore.
Do you guys remember the Warner Bros. stores? I could never get how they stayed in business even as long as they did. How many Taz shirts could you really wear?

Re: This is my opinion only....Disney Obsessions...

I can see being obsessed with going to Disney. I know many people who love going there. Fine, if you have the money and it makes you happy, be my guest...but the clothes. Lordy, the clothes. The clothes really bother me. Everyone in my family knows that they better not purchase anything with a Disney character on it for Ava or else there'll be problems! I just cannot stand Disney clothing. It's just...tacky.

Re: This is my opinion only....Disney Obsessions...

I personally think the adult Disney obsession is odd... My cousin and her husband got married at Disney World, and had a themed cruise. CHEESY in my opinion.

ETA: They are 35 and 42 by the way... GROW UP.

We don't have kids and we love going there. I don't think it's anything to be embarrassed about. It's a fun place to go with great resorts and delicious restaurants.

I am not into the collectibles, clothing, housewares, etc. But then I don't collect anything so I don't understand the concept.

Hmmm true! Maybe she has some sort of pass - my ILs have a yearly pass to Busch Gardens.

Florida residents can get a discounted annual pass which gets them dicounted room rates (if they don't live driving distance for the parks). They are also eligble for a dining discount card so they save a percentage of their dining costs.

My parents collect the Walt Disney Classics Collection. They are very expensive hand panted pieces that they display in a curio at home. They have every piece.
