This is my opinion only....Disney Obsessions...

Now, I don't want to offend anyone by any means....but I have been seeing more adults obsessed with Disney than children would be.

I grew on Disney, I loved Disney, but now as an adult....I think it's part of my past, but to incorporate it into my life now?

ETA:

I clicked "post" instead of "preview"...

Do you think there are things that may be associated with being "adult" than "children?"

Whether it be wearing the "clothing", having a Disney theme "wedding", etc...INCORPORATING it into your life...

Are you talking about clothing? Because I can't stand Disney themed clothing for adults OR children...

There's a lady on the train that wears one of thoe varsity jackets, you know with the leather sleeves... it has a huge Mickey Mouse on the back and for some reason it annoys the hell out of me... then again, most things do..lol

Not sure what you mean, but I have a friend who goers to Disneyland with her DH all of the time. They have no kids. I am COMPLETELY Chat Icon as to why you would go there constantly when there is a whole other REAL world out there.

I feel like I want to say to them, grow up and freaking go to Vegas.

I honestly don't get it either.

I didn't even enjoy Disney that much as a teen...

I can see delighting in a child's enjoyment of it...but me and d to the h going on vacation...OMG that is just not happening.

I'd feel "dirtier" than usual getting it on in Cinderella's castle!Chat Icon

I don't think I understand?

Are you sying are there things that make adults more obsessed than children?

I guess adults just have more money to feed the obsession?

I have to say the best gift I got for christmas was a box of disney socks from my sister. I was beyond thrilled. Chat Icon

I have never been to Disney, nor do I care to. DH thinks I'm a communist because of this.

Re: This is my opinion only....Disney Obsessions...

My aunt and uncle are Disney Obsessed. Their Christmas tree is ALL Disney. She wears disney clothing all the time (including sparkly shoes). Both of them have personalized license plates that are Disney theme. All gifts they get for everyone are disney (for college graduation they got me a 101 Dalmations tote Chat Icon) and they vacation there every year.

Yes, I find it weird. I don't find adults vacationing in Disney as weird though.

Ricky has never been, and I feel like he missed out on a part of his childhood...but to go now - NEVER....he doesn't like being around too many children, who walk into his "nuts."

Re: This is my opinion only....Disney Obsessions...

I think the reason I'm more obsessed than some children is because since I was a toddler I wanted to go to disney world, but my family could never afford to go. When I finally went at 20, it was a dream come true, I waited a LONG time to go, and the magic was still there. I'm a kid at heart. There used to be a harry potter store in times square and FH used to love tot ake me there just to see my eyes light up. I love the magic. Everyone is different. For example, romance novelsand adult films are a different kind of fantasy and I feel like "who cares about that when you can have the real thing?"

Re: This is my opinion only....Disney Obsessions...

i think it's great when you can hold onto something from your childhood

I am not ashamed to admit that I am obsessed with the Muppets - I watch classic Sesame Street skits on YouTube and I would go to Sesame Place without kids.

I'm also obsessed with Warner Bros cartoons and basically all game shows. I DVR Price is Right everyday.

If that makes me childish - well then, that makes me childish

I like going to Disney and try and make the trip every year. I think for me when I go there I feel that it brings up great memories from my childhood and we usually go as a big group (family) and we have a blast everytime we go.a The service and food are top notch and we just enjoy the excitement of going.

Re: This is my opinion only....Disney Obsessions...

i do agree that I have seen more adults interested in it than kids.

it may be a manifestation of wanting to be forever young, or maybe they never got to see disney as a kid and its been a lifelong dream or obsesion to get there as an adult.

personally the thought of being surrounded by a bunch of screaming kids on my vacation makes me shudder as do cartoons and thingso f that nature but I guess to each their own!

ETA: I do love going to WDW but I probably won't go back again until we have kids...we got engaged there three years ago - that was the last time I was there and before that it was close to 10 years...

What I mean, is that going to the park is fine...but by obsession I mean - wearing the clothes, like Suz mentioned above - incorporating it into your daily life, etc....

I could say I go to disney for the spas, the food, the service... but I'd be lying. I go for the rides, the chance to hunt down Snow White and Dopey, converse with Mary Poppins and feel the rush of meeting my favorite celebrity in Mickey's house!

I also believe in Santa, and I'm turning 25 this year! Chat Icon

we went for our hm and it was the best time ever. we are far from obsessed, but didn't want a beach hm, that is just not us.

its a fun place to visit, but i think once every few years is enough.

Yeah I dont see myself going to Disney with just my husband or some friends. I mean when I have kids, yes, but not for a vacation with my husband...I think Im past that...I do know a lot of people though that are still "fixated" on Disney...SIL's ex-bf goes every year and still takes her and the kids just to have an excuse to go...I think he's a freak IMO...

Maybe I would do Universal, but still it would have to be with my kids.
