 medela pump in style advanced????
Hi ladies, I am registering for this pump. Which bottles are you using to pump directly into the bottle? TIA This is so confusing to me.

Re: medela pump in style advanced????
i believe the medela comes with bottles you pump into and then you can put it into whatever bottle of your choice to feed.

Can you pump right into the Dr. Brown ones? How about Avent? I heard of someone saying something about them too? Sorry if this is a dumb quest. I have zero knowledge in this BFing thing.

Re: medela pump in style advanced????
Dr Brown (the small mouthed ones) fit - Im guessing any smaller mouthed bottle will work - meaning the fat/wide ones wont work. The pump also comes with bottles you can use - they are smaller though - I think 4 or 5 oz. with scfrew on caps and nipples.

Re: medela pump in style advanced????
i don't think the avent bottles will fit directly on to the medela pump. avent makes their own pump which is super expensive.

Re: medela pump in style advanced????
You can't pump directly into the Avent bottles. I pump into the bottles that it comes with (medela bottles with yellow caps), then pour it into a freezer bag (special ones made for BM) & freeze them. When I need then, I thaw one (always in another ziploc bag or bowl in case it leaks) then pour it into an Avent bottle. I guess it sounds like a lot to do, but I only use my pumped milk occassionally so it's no big deal.

Re: medela pump in style advanced????
Avent has a converstion kit that will fit the PIS so you can pump directly into the wide mouth Avent bottles ...they have them at BRU. Image Attachment(s):

Re: medela pump in style advanced????
Thanks everyone so much. This is so overwhelming for me. I am going back to BRU tomorrow. I am going to check this bottle situation out.

Re: medela pump in style advanced????
I got my pump in ebay NEW, sealed in the box, with a full warrenty. It was MUCH cheaper than going to BRU or BBB. I used Playtex Nursers with drop in liners. I used the BM bags and dumped into the liners. I could never pump right into the bottles because I needed to store a lot of milk. You can't store effectively in the bottles- they take up too much room. I needed to lay the bags flat.

Re: medela pump in style advanced????
just one thing. make sure that is the pump you really want because you can't take it back once it is bought. I got two for my baby shower and now it is mine to keep. I put it on my registry and I guess BRU forgot to take it off. Anyway I feel the bags are the easiest.
