Why does furniture take so long?

I ordered my dining room set 2 months ago (and they said roughly 6 weeks)...well I called and they still don't have it in! Chat Icon

I ordered my couches 5 weeks ago and htey said 4-6 weeks, and once again I called...and still no couches for me!

We are having Christmas at our house and it is not going to be fun eating dinner on our little kitchen table!

I need my FURNITURE!

Re: Why does furniture take so long?

one of our pieces took 13 weeks! I would think you could make it in 13 weeks!

My only theory is that their factories have a schedule of when things are made and we have to wait for then?

Re: Why does furniture take so long?

It depends on where the furniture is coming from. When I was a furniture buyer at Bloomies, a lot of our stuff was imported from Italy and france and we had to buy container loads of it.

Sometimes it take awhile for the mfg to actually make the furniture and the the whole customs process takes awhile - and sometimes pieces get damaged. There's also a variety of other reasons, but that's the most common!
