Phil and I spending Thanksgiving in Bermuda Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Our flight is leaving JFK at 7:30 am on Wed morning Chat Icon

We should get there early, by 5:30 am.

Can anyone recommend a shuttle service?

Update: Would you put your car in long term parking at JFK?

I am really thinking of taking the train then the airtran, but then I was thinking why not just drive ourselves and put the car in long term parking?

It's $15 a day, so it would cost about $90.

Should I be worried about the safety of the car?

Re: Transportation the JFK Airport

If you take the airtran you will miss a ton of traffic. You can take the LIRR to Jamicia. I have done it a bunch of times and I can get from Jamicia top my JFK terminal in 5 minutes. HTHChat Icon

no, is part of the port authority. you can take the lirr to jamaica station and you would pay 5 dollars each to take the airtrain. it takes you to every terminal

So I could have someone drop us off at Ronkonoma Train Station, take the train to Jamiaca, then the airtran?

Yup, we did this this weekend. We didn't have to have anyone drive us at 5 in the morning. We did it last night coming home to!

It is $5.00 per person each way for the air train.

We have a 7am flight to San Juan on Thanksgiving day - my parents have offered to drive but I feel bad having them do so at 430 am so we will probably take car service.

We usually use Carizma they have been great and have been reasonable.

I took the LIRR & the airtrain to JFK a couple of weeks ago & loved it. Very easy & quick.

Just a thought but the Airtran and Jamaica station might be very deserted at 5am in the morning on Thanksgiving day versus rush hour during the week.

Re: Transportation to JFK Airport - Updated with more ?'s about long term parking

we used the Long Term Parking at JFK and it was great!

We saw security riding around when we parked the car as well as when we got back.

The best part is the Tram that brings you right to your terminal....for free! Chat Icon

You really dont have to worry about the Long term parking.

We used it when we went away for about 4 days and it worked out perfectly. No complaints here and I would totally do it again.

We used it when we went to Jamaica, and we'll use it again in Dec. I wouldn't worry about safety, but it was a trek to the air tram! Especially in the snow with huge bags!

When we get off the train at Jamaica, where do we go to get onto the airtran?

Is there a schedule? or does it run, like every 15 minutes?

Hey Tara, long term parking is very secure.
when you get off Jamaica station you will go up and the airtrain is on the top to your right.

it usually runs every 10 minutes.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

We decided to take the train to the airtran. Little nervous about doing this!

I am so happy I asked on here, because I didn't even know about the airtran.

Can you believe I traveled in Europe(France, England, Switerland, Monaco, and Spain) for 2 months? But I did travel with 2 other girls who loved to be in control and I just let them.

When DH and I went to Barbados we parked in the long term lot. It was great, no problems with the car. We got to the parking lot at about 5am and the air train came in about 3 minutes of our arrival and we were in the terminal within 15 minutes of parking the car. No problems on the way home either. The air train came in about 10 minutes. I would definietly recommend it, plus you can use your EZ Pass to pall the parking fee.
