Bureaucratic Red tape!!!
We have been working on the house expansion for months now. We submitted the plans to the town, who still has not approved them, but we got a postcard from them saying we also had to get a permit from the DEC. So, we contact them, send them all kinds of paperwork, and today they tell me it will be at least 12 weeks!!! Are you kidding me? For what? So I can build on my own house? This sux!

Re: Bureaurocratic Red tape!!!
My brother and SIL were jerked around for MONTHS, waiting for approvals and permits, etc. Good luck- I know it was super-frustrating for them as it is for you too.

Re: Bureaucratic Red tape!!!
The DEC takes forever to approve things. I would call them periodically to check on the status of your permit.
Just out of curiosity, why do you need DEC approval, are you near a wetland?

The DEC says I am. The end of a small river (which I guess would be a creek by me) runs at the very back of my property.
