Is it dangerous to light the pumkin and put the lid back on??

I want to put my pumkins outside and I don't know if it's safe to put the lids back on.

Is that safe??

Will it catch on fire???

TIA

We always did it. The candle would probably go out before the pumpkin catches fire.

it might cook a little, and if it gets knocked over it might start a fire if there are dry leaves around.

I always put the tops on. It usually just crisps up the top part.

It's fine -- poke a small hole in the lid tho so the smoke can escape.

I honestly don't know - but everyone seems to do it - just don't leave it unattended....
