Has anoyne ever used those vaccum storage bags they advertise on TV?
The ones where you store a king sized blanket and it is like a flat pancake.

Yes- but I found that they get holes/rip easily. But that just might be my experience.

The smaller ones seem to work okay, the real large ones that I put my comforter in keep exploding in the closet. So much for saving space... at least they are protected.
(I have Space Bags)

Yeah...they work great...until they don't.
I put all my sweaters in them one year and put them in the basement all "air tight" and safe. Then when I went back to get them for the next year they weren't flat anymore.
Air-tight my azz!

Space Bags!
I use them for travel, just becuase now they can search your bags, and I usually travelc arry on, so I use one for my undies at least...
Air ALWAYS finds its way back in, and the zippers break easily, or I don't know what it is, but it's like the 2nd time you go to use it, it just won't seal anymore.
At costco yesterday there were dog beds vaccum sealed. It was so cool. It was 1/2 an inch thick and I broke the seal and it made a "whoosh" sound and there were 3 6 inch thick dog beds in there. It was awesome. I wish space bags worked like that. It would rock.

I have them-- they sell them at Bed, Bath & Beyond which is where I got it.
The do kinda blow- no pun intended.
They work well on certian things-- particularly down items-- I have my king size down comforter in the jumbo one- HOWEVER, the bags don't zip together well-- the zipper can go either way, so you don't know if you are open or closed. And the real shiteous part- the bags are delicate. So if you are trying to shove said comforter into a particular spot in the back of your closet- you can very easily puncture the bag.
I sent them a very nasty note and they sent me new bags for free. I have them, so I use them, but they are not a wonder product by any means.

Same complaint. They seem to work when you store it, but air seeps in. I just got my fall sweaters out of the bag and it looked like I never sucked the air out in the first place.

I've got 4 comforter sets in space bags. I used the hose to suck the air out of them and then sat on the bag to suck even more air out. It's always worked.
