when you're grocery shopping with DC ...
Do you unpack the cart and then put DC in the carseat, or does DC go in first?
Sometimes I put him in the carseat first, but then I dont like walking away from the car to put the cart back. And you hear those carjacking stories with babies in the car ... Or I'll unload first, but then I dont like turning my back to him in the cart. Either way I feel distracted and dont like it!
This morning I thought, hmmm... I wonder what the LIF moms do!

if i put him in the car first then i put the groceries on his side of the car and i beep the truck locked then walk to my side of the car and unlock it. im very narotic and if i put the groceries in first then i have it where hes infront of me the whole time so i dont have to turn my back but as soon as he is in the car its locked and then only unlocked as i enter it. hope that helps

baby goes in first, I put the grocerys in and leave the cart by the car out of way but close to my car ( I never bring back to the corral only if its right next door) Im too have heard of the carjackings and Im not taking anychances with my kid, Im not overly concerned with the carts  Thats why they have a worker out there as far as Im concerned

Now that he's walking, I unpack the cart, take it back and he'll walk back w/me or I'll carry him. Sometimes if it's cold, I'll put him in his carseat, unload the cart, lock the doors and bring the cart back. I always try to park near the corral so I'm not too far away.

She goes in the carseat, then I put the groceries in the trunk and leave the basket at the front of the car so it's out of the way if I'm not next to the corral.

I feel bad leaving the cart there, but I will resume being polite with the cart thing when he is grown up (or not with me of course)

I"m the jerk who leaves the carts in the parking lot. I try to park right next to the cart corral, but it doesn't always happen. Too mnay carjacking stories.
Before you became a mother, did you ever even thinkof the logistics of these types of things?
There is a woman downthe street hat has two babies under 3. I see the Peapod truck there every week. Thats a smart idea .

Jared goes in the car first, then the groceries. I lock the car, push the cart back, then unlock the car and get in (after doing a full circle around the car to see if there's anyone there~I'm neurotic).

Depends on the weather.
If it's not raining or too cold, I put the groceries in first. Then I put the cart in the cart holder thingy - and then I walk back to the car and put DD in.
If it's bad weather - DD goes in first, I unpack groceries, and I leave the cart.
I read or saw something somewhere that said you should never put your DC in the car first because if you were car jacked, the baby would be in the car. That always stuck in my head.

I put all the groceries in the car while he sits in the cart. Then I walk with him in the cart to return it, take him out and walk back to my car and put him in.

I always look for a spot right next to a cart carial and park the car so that the passenger door opens to the carial. If I do park their then I put him in the car first then put the grocery's away. If I am not by a carial then I keep him in the carrier and put the grocery's arway first then bring the cart their then carry him to the car. If their is no carial then I put the cart infront of my car and put him in the car first.

Ok, the only reason I don't use Pea Pod is because Jt's response to that was, "What the hell? We're going to have them bring us food? I can go get it just as easily!" Well, guess what? Now he DOES get them just as easily

My Dad was in the Costco parking lot this summer in Melville when a woman's car was stolen while she was loading the trunk. Her 3 year old was in the back seat. He said no one could even figure out what was wrong with the woman because whe was sooo hysterical. THANK GOD the car and baby were found (unharmed).
Ever since that day I load trunk first than put DD in the car. Even when its raing hard...I just hold the umbrella over both of us.
