It's Monday. Gross. But, I am off to ye olde Canada next week, which means a week away from the office. So I should not complain!

Thursday night was the Metallica at Nassau Coliseum. It rocked!! The stage was set up in the middle of the floor so pretty much every seat has a good view. I forgot how much smaller it is there compared to MSG - but it's a good thing! Better viewing for us blind people. I was slightly nervous it would be too loud for the baby but in doing some small research online, I didn't see anything bad about going to concerts. Unless, say, you were right up against a speaker and in a pit. But neither of these things happened so I think it's safe to say all was fine. Sean says it was one of this top 3 concerts of all time (I'll wager a guess that his #1 is still Guns N' Roses with Soundgarden at MSG on his 13th birthday). I know Kasey thought it was awesome too. It's a lot of fun going to shows with family. I mean, I saw Judas Priest a few times with my family...the family that rocks together stays together! I always used to think Lars was a huge **** - maybe he is. But the man can drum. All in all a great show. There were lasers, fire and huge coffin-shaped lights. You can't go wrong with that.

Our hardwood floors got done this weekend - came out beautifully! I am so pleased, it was really worth the $. It looks great and no more smelly carpet!! Now I just have to hope Lucifer doesn't chew on the wood...heads will roll if this happens.

I've been thinking more about what I'll buy for the kid since we're getting closer to finding out what they will be. One idea that crossed my mind was an english-style pram. Not that it's necessary at ALL, but I thought it could be fun.

Alas, it's not in the cards. Can someone tell me why this thing is $1,098?! Holy crap. I know I might make some overpriced purchases for the baby but this will not be one of them. But I seriously can't wait to add more things to the registry. I love shopping, especially for new products I've never had to buy before. I get such a weird satisfaction out of researching product types, brand names, styles, etc. And there is such cute stuff out there for kids nowadays.

I have another question about pregnancy in general. Why do people find satisfaction in reminding you what you can't have or do while pregnant? I cannot understand this. Does it make you feel better to rub in that I can't have a drink/smoke (not that I smoke anyhow) for nine months? Do you think I actually don't know I can't have these things? Like you're the first person who's suggested to me it could possibly be bad? It's along the same lines as being told "my life will never be the same". Um, yes. I know. And though I know some changes will take some getting used to, I also think the changes we experience will be ultimately great because we're raising our child and making a family. I know I will probably be overwhelmed at times, and complain here and there. But really, do people think I didn't consider these things before deciding to have a child? It's a choice, not a punishment.

No news in the boy name category. But for me, Violet is climbing the girl list slowly but surely. Madeleine is still #1 though...hopefully we'll find out in about 3-4 weeks what we're going to have! I have a sense it will be...a human baby. Who knows!!

xx kim
