Blogging for (Career) Change
Aug 2 2011 3:53PM

I have been a teacher for almost 15 years. In recent months, I've found myself thinking about the next 15 to 20 years I will be working. And I have asked myself some difficult questions, primarily, "Can I do this for fifteen more years?"

The answer I arrived at was "probably not." Since I have always loved writing, I am hoping to transition to a career where I can pursue my interest in more depth. To hone my skills and share what I'm learning about career transitions, I decided to start a blog.

My blog will chronicle my experiences as I leave teaching and try my hand at something else but I also want it to be a resource for other teachers who are looking to change careers, or teachers who can't find jobs due to the current economic climate. I'm going to review books, give resume tips, etc. but I would also really love to share the stories of people who have successfully transitioned to a new career. I don't need to use specific identifying info (names, companies, etc.); I'm more interested in the nuts and bolts.
