Good to know. Glad I didn’t spend 2 hours wiping down my groceries after every shopping trip.

There were some animals in the Bronx zoo that tested positive. I believe they contracted it from their handlers.

Re: New CDC...I guess they changed their minds

Yeah all that wiping down of groceries and mail and packages sounded exhausting.

Save your clorox wipes for real cleaning.

I hope the next thing they decide was unnecessary is masks.

Yes, there was 3 Tigers and the lions were showing symptoms, they all have recovered, and they dont know who they contracted it from. Or it could have been from the raw meat they were fed, they are not sure.

How I come knew this before the CDC? Or are they trying to ease up on the scare tactics and fear mongering.

If it's not spread easily from animals to humans, then how did this whole thing start in the first place. Hmmmmmmm?!

I don't believe that it doesn't spread easily between animals b/c there have been a number of cases (besides the tigers) - pets like cats and dogs have tested positive.

My thoughts exactly. So are they saying it probably did not spread from their wet market? They have had these wet markets for so many years, and this has been the only virus we get from it?? Hmmmm is right

If there is anything I learned during this pandemic, it is to not trust the CDC.
They constantly change the guidelines according to available resources and social needs, not due to science.

I thought the wet market thing was already refuted. I thought they said it got out of a lab where they were studying it by someone who worked there being accidentally infected and spreading it to people outside the lab

That is also what I thought, but many people dont believe it came from the Wuhan lab

Re: New CDC...I guess they changed their minds

It says does not spread EASILY.

They have found that the virus matches up with the virus found in pangolins (they were the transporter of this virus; kind of related to the cat family). I really do not think it came from a lab. That’s conspiracy thinking.

Most of the cats that had it (I think there were two dogs, too) survived. Cats naturally have a type of coronavirus (FCoV). If you have a cat, they probably have it. It is when it mutates (FIP) then it’s a problem. Google research done by FIP scientists, especially Niels Pederson.

And yes, people can spread diseases to animals, but not this virus. Ferrets can get the human cold from us.

Coronaviruses are normally present in animals. Sometimes it becomes zoonotic. It’s a fact of life.

ETA: I only know a bit about Coronaviruses because I donate to a charity for FIP. Oddly enough the charity is run by Newt Gingrich’s sister, and I’m the biggest liberal out there Chat Icon .

And this! I take what they say with a grain of salt. It’s certainly not my one and only source of information. It hasn’t been for a long time already.

I don't think saying it came from the lab is conspiracy thinking at all.
Saying it was designed in a lab and purposely released, maybe.
But why is it so hard to believe someone who works there- with these highly infectious viruses- couldn't get accidentally contaminated? They are only human. Mistakes happen.
Why is that so far fetched?

Lol.. what do you mean? Don’t you know that scientists and researchers don’t make any mistakes or can’t be unethical at all? They are like this superhuman honest entity right now. Add them to the list of the perfect doctors, teachers, nurses, cops, presidents, governors lol.

Because scientists have said that it came from pangolins and bats and the disease matched up with what is found in pangolins and bats. Science doesn’t lie.

Exactly.. Science and raw data doesn't lie but people do. Putting numbers on the TV screen during a briefing doesn't make it accurate data.

I have to look- I remember hearing this, but I am not sure where. I can look.
I just thought they studied animals in labs. So it is possible it could have gotten out of the lab by accident.
But honestly what difference does it make?
Even if it did come from the wet market they are not shutting those down.
So what can anyone do at this point?
My point was, I don't see how it's a conspiracy theory to think a virus could get out of a lab.
I'm sure it has happened before.
I'm far from a conspiracy theorist- but I can logically see how that could happen.

I get your point. I can see how it could have possibly happened that way.

Wild animals have been banned from sale in wet markets now. But I take that with a grain of salt. They did the same thing in 2004 after SARS. But wet markets have not been shut down and they won’t be.
