They used to be able to marry centuries ago, they should just go back to that. I still think a predator is a predator. It doesn't matter if they are allowed to marry, pedophiles are married. I don't think that would stop them.
No kid should be spending hours of alone time with any adult.
Many pedophiles are married but it would attract many religious individuals who want to be married and would still want to serve the church as well - who are well intentioned.

My point is wanting to be married does not making you a pedophile who sexually assaults children. In that case they would be sleeping around with people their age.
If a priest is allowed to marry, it's still not going to stop them from assaulting a child. The access is why they do it. Same as why teachers and coaches have been know to assault kids.
ETA: oh I understand what you'e post. I agree with you, they should let them marry.
I was just pointing that I don't think that would stop the assault. More guidelines and rules such as how we have it in schools.

Yup... a priest from my church growing up in bklyn is on there. but honestly he was older than dirt when I was a kid and later a student there.
But still shocking none the less.
the church has a big uphill battle dealing with all this and getting people to come back to church.
