Potty training help

My DD will be 3 next month and hasn’t shown interest in using the potty, yesterday I tried training her they same way i trained my special needs son (time training). The problem is that she throws a complete fit when I try to sit her on the potty, like kicking and screaming deathly afraid. I bought one of those little potty’s but she will only sit after she has peed. Any tips? Should I back off for another month or so and try again later?

Potty training help

Yes, I think you should ease up for now and try again in a month. Otherwise it becomes a total power struggle and extremely frustrating for everyone!
Both of my kids trained at 3 (one was exactly 3y, other was 3y3m). When they did it on their terms they were totally accident free.

I agree with PP and wouldn't force the issue. My daughter was over 3.5 when she trained. She does have issues with her kidneys and urinary tract so her urologist was adamant about not pushing her. She trained herself in a day with only a couple of poop accidents in the first week. She trained overnight at the same time. It was so easy on me and not traumatic for her.

When she is ready she won't fight you. She isn't ready

I would wait. She will do it with much more ease most likely if you give her a little more time.

I would wait until she starts to show more interest. Does she go to school or daycare? Does she see other kids her age using the potty?

I brought my daughter and let her pick out her panties. Then we put the panties on her dolls and teddy bears, cause they are all big girls. ;)We did this a few days a week. And then she turned around and finally said she wants to wear the panties and take her diaper off.
She also went to nursery school at that time and all her friends were potty trained and that def motivated her.
I also got her own potty.
I did a reward chart right next to the potty and she LOVED seeing these bright red check marks when she went.
I did do like 2 mms as a treat for pee and 4 for poop.
After a week of no diaper and all pee and poop on the potty she earned a lil mini cupcake, cookie or a toy. I let it be her choice.

I did 3 day method, 3 kids. All were done before 3. They had to be trained and fully independent (wiping and pants up) before preschool.

I’d stick with it... 3 day method is not gentle, but it worked for my kids. First day was rough with one being hesitant to sit on potty but once she did, that was it.

If you have no time limit (no preschool), go for it and give it a few months. I thought the worst age was 2.5. Before that and after was easier.

Potty training help

I might be no help.... I forced it with the 3 day method. If I waited for him to be ready he’d still be in diapers.
