LI Weddings
How on earth does anyone plan a wedding now that LI Weddings has less traffic than MySpace? My cousin just booked her venue and needs vendors. I recommended the vendors we used and liked, but I’d like to help her find others to consider.
Can you share whom you used for photo, video (they are not on an AJ Ingoglia budget), & DJ, pretty please??

the knot is still active.
i've stumbled across them as i look for vendors for SO's party.
a lot of the posts i've run across have been pretty recent.
liw was a lifesaver for me... not just the vendor ideas, but also the camaraderie of knowing there were other people going through it with me.

I hated the knot when I was planning. The content was completely irrelevant to anyone having a wedding in this part of the country.
I wonder why LIW went down the tubes? Are people not getting married anymore?

They probably make 400 different facebook groups to discuss each aspect of it.
People seem to like that better than having everything in one place like on a message board.

Look at house vendors. I used long island weddings while it was still busy in 2015 and used the most popula hair girl and makeup and hated the job they did, hated the photographer everyone recommended that I used. what one may like may not be one size fits all. when my friend had her wedding I did my own research and found better vendors.
photo: north island photography or studio 27 or capture he moment.Jaylim I have seen beautiful pics done.
DJ: signature sounds, tommys tunes, then and now
we used capture the moment for video and was pleased. the above photo companies do video as well.
makeup by jessie in massapequa is the best!! Tara at metromodes for hair.
I didnt use any of these people except capture the moment which i was happy with and then til now DJ and was also happy. The others are people I wish I looked into.

I feel the same way! Especially when it comes to wedding stuff. I recall there was an incident on LIW where one bride called and tried to cancel another bride's wedding or vendor (I can't remember the details) and that was on a relatively anonymous site. Imagine where people actually know details about you?
As for vendors, I used Imagine Studios for pictures, Wild Rose Video, Verbena Designs for flowers (and she is unbelievable. I will refer her to anyone, any time), LA Productions for DOC and All Star Limos. Oh and VJ Entertainment for DJ. They were great. I had a percussionist and sax player too. It was awesome.

Yes I had a horrible experience with a recommended/paid vendor on LIW.

I was in a private facebook group for 2012 brides before my wedding. Someone in the group contacted my video guy after I complained in the private group that my video was not ready. He called me in and told me he heard I was slandering him on the internet and had me sign something saying I would not speak of him again. I left the group after that. I much prefer the anonymity of message boards.

That's who we used for photos as well. Though he was part of Duet Photography at the time. He's branched off to his own business. We didn't have a videographer.
I've also used Lovemore Photo for TTD shoots and they were incredible!
I can't remember the DJ though. It was 8 years ago! 
Flowers we used Designs by Rose in Howard Beach.

Fade to Black New York - we used for photo and video- my pictures came out amazing. My trailer was awesome but the actual video was horrendous. I refuse to show people because it's just embarrassing.
LI Sound- we used for DJ and they were great.
My friend used Lighthouse Photography in Port Jeff- everything came out stunning.

Yes! We were one of his first bookings when he went out on his own. I loved him and his staff. We used him for video, too.

LIw. Wow memories.
To be honest all these boards are dying too.
I miss the old days. Been through so much on these boards from planning a wedding, suffering from IF, getting pregnant, having my babies, just asking for advice and laughing along the way at petty drama. Have met some wonderful people on these boards too.

I doubt any of my vendors back from 2006 are the "hot" vendors anymore. I think now b/c of fb, Instagram, pininterst, selecting vendors is very different.

Unfortunately since you were not allowed to post negative comments because many were paid advertisers, you never knew when you were going to get a "lemon." Could be an attributing cause to the downfall of the board.

this was happening alot during 2014/2015 on LIW. we ended up branching out on FB with a 2015 brides fb group, there was a 2016 brides fb group. when people posted negative reviews on LIW they were sometimes deleted or edited.

My photographer isn’t in business anymore, we had a band, Franklin Wayne- dreamkast and they were great. Barattini productions is great for a DJ, a high school friends husband owns the company. I heard bilski is good for video!
