looking at the below pictures (I know theyr'e small - apologies) how much do you think the centerpiece is worth? As a guest, as a former bride - how much do you think such a piece would be?

The flowers are carnations...

maybe $60? carnations are inexpenisve, so i'm thinking most of the expense is the bowl, is it plastic or metal? cause if its plastic i would say maybe $45...

I woud think less than $40, but it's hard to tell how many carnations are used. I guess it depends on the florist, too. I think my centerpecies were only $65 dollars ( 3 years ago) & they were bigger & had a mix of flowers.

ETA- I have no idea if it is labor intesive to get the arrangement that round, and if that adds to the cost.

my centerpiece will look like that but with roses. carnations are cheaper so depending on how many i would say less than $50.

Re: Since we've all been exposed to weddings in one way or another...opinions...

$25-30 tops

my low CPs were full of all different flowers--calla lillies, roses, and others i don't know the name of for $50 each. AND they had votive candles and rose petals. and that was last year

for a carnation CP i wouldn't pay more than $25.

Re: Since we've all been exposed to weddings in one way or another...opinions...

Thank you all - I just wanted to make sure I wasn't being too objective...

Just to answer some questions:

- Just one color carnations (hot pink)
- The florist supposedly used 182 carnations to create the lush-look
- It's in a glass martini-type of bowl
- it's 8"
- and he wants to charge $200 - yes...$200 per piece...

My friend asked me to take a guess at how much they were running her....

My jaw dropped (b/c obviously I couldn't help it) - and I advised my friend "hey listen, you have to spend, by all means, but I will tell you right now, as a guest at your wedding...I wouldn't think you spent more than $45 on the CP."

No way! Tell your friend to find a new florist they are ripping her off.

pfffffft - for carnations?!?!?! Are you JOKING?!?

I don't know - I always think of carnations as the "4th grade graduation" flower. Definitely not wedding flowers.
